The Partridge Family was an American television sitcom about a widowed mother and her five children who, in addition to living their typical suburban family life, traveled around in a colorful bus to different venues to perform their hit songs.
The Partridge Family's biggest hit came in 1970 with the number one song "I Think I Love You" (lyrics), which began climbing the charts in September and peaked at #1 in December of that year.
The Partridges had a brief resurgence in animated form on the CBS Saturday morning schedule as the Hanna-Barbera-produced Partridge Family 2200 A.D. which saw the family propelled into the future.

In the fall of 1970, Friday prime-time television was home to a family of five kids and a widowed mother who charmed America with their groovy pop tunes.
The first full-length record, The Partridge Family Album, was distributed later that year and featured a group photo in the album jacket, becoming the first of many premiums that would be inserted in later albums.
Interestingly, all of The Partridge Family records are labeled with the caption "Starring Shirley Jones and featuring David Cassidy." They were the only cast members to lend their voices to the recordings.

CBS was hoping to cash in on the popularity of the prime time series, but by this time PF audiences were too old to view cartoons, and had already tuned out the prime time series, which had finished third from the bottom in the Neilson Ratings, the year before.
The ink and paint Partridges were cancelled midseason (rare for a cartoon) and ended on March 8, 1975.
