About The Persuaders CD   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-19)
The Persuaders made a comeback and performed in venues in Washington D.C., New York and Philadelphia and throughout the eastern coast.
Tommy inherited the Persuaders name and responsibility of maintaining the group’s legacy and tradition and became the lead singer.
Ron and Jay left with Vincent to continue to illegally perform as the Persuaders and sometimes deceptively using the pictures of Tommy, Richard, Alexander and David’s in flyers and on TV to advertise themselves for venues.

 The Persuaders! - Set 1
No, anxious reader, "The Persuaders!" is not classic TV at its best, British or American.
Furthermore "The Persuaders!" was never a hit, lasting for only two seasons, and never acquired cult status.
The joy is not in the dismissible plots but in some genuine chemistry between the two leads and some pretty clever banter -- which has a certain unmistakable adlib quality.

While Tommy was in the hospital and in the presence of his wife, Verline Savage, to whom he left his estate and ownership of The Persuaders, he said to Richard, Alex and David, “You are the Persuaders, keep it going” and that's what we're doing.

The Persuaders! - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The series starred Roger Moore, as Lord Brett Sinclair, and Tony Curtis, as Danny Wilde, both millionaire international playboys, but from very different British and American backgrounds.
The inconsistent premise of The Persuaders television series is in aristocratic Sinclair being forced to team-up with rough-diamond-American Wilde in fighting crime in behalf of a judge (Laurence Naismith), or face jail.
Given that the majority of the series was filmed in England (though with substantial location filming in France, Spain, Sweden and Italy) and was very English in flavour, it is perhaps not surprising.

These opponents complain that targets of deprogramming are (1) victims of deception, (2) denied due process and (3) forced to endure more intense manipulation by their supposed rescuers than they encountered during their previous group membership.
Eileen Barker documents that out of 1000 people persuaded by the Moonies [Unification Church] to attend one of their overnight programs in 1979, 90% had no further involvement.

One of "Frontline's" best productions all year, "The Persuaders" is a fascinating delve into how today's marketers influence our choices, from cheese to political candidates to Boeing's plush Dreamliner.
That's where "The Persuaders" starts, by setting us amid the neural overload of Times Square and the musings of Ad Age magazine columnist Bob Garfield.
A major theme in "The Persuaders" is the constant state of war between consumer boredom and marketing blandishment.

There's an underlying theme of luck & chance (signalled by the roulette wheel of the opening credits), or more often than not the manipulation of luck and chance (coincidences are nearly always manufactured in the persuaders), but i think i should stop right there and just enjoy the superficiality of it all.

In "The Persuaders," FRONTLINE explores how the cultures of marketing and advertising have come to influence not only what Americans buy, but also how they view themselves and the world around them.
The 90-minute documentary draws on a range of experts and observers of the advertising/marketing world, to examine how, in the words of one on-camera commentator, "the principal of democracy yields to the practice of demography," as highly customized messages are delivered to a smaller segment of the market.
While the techniques of the persuaders have become more sophisticated, consumers have never been more resistant to marketing messages.

Between heroic spells as the Saint and James Bond, Roger Moore was teamed with Tony Curtis in The Persuaders, a derivative but fun series about a couple of millionaire dilettante adventurers who swan around the world competing for the attention of beautiful women and getting involved in perplexing mysteries.
I first encountered "The Persuaders!" on a cable channel that showed episodes from the series as part of its "Mystery Friday" offerings.
In a way it was a "missing link" in the transition from the great spy shows of the 1960s and the detective dramas of the 1970s, with elements from the former and foreshadowings of the latter.
