Also it's important to note that Lucas decided to do the transfer for the Phantom Menace DVD from the film master over the pure digital print that was made for the small number of digital theaters which Star Wars Phantom Menace was shown in.
Phantom Menace features a Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track which is so full and dynamic, it's going to make your head spin.
Since the theater I saw Phantom Menace in wasn't the top of the line, state of the art theater, I found my home theater experience of Phantom Menace to be BETTER than the one I had in the theater.

One doesn't get far into the maze of extras on "Star Wars: Episode I -- The Phantom Menace" before figuring out that George Lucas and his co-workers made this DVD as much for themselves as their audience.
The seven deleted scenes can be viewed separately or as part of a brief documentary in which Lucas recruits other directors to bolster his argument that filmmakers often cut out their favorite scenes.

Like its predecessor, "The Short-Timers," The Phantom Blooper is comprised of three novellas, but each seem to have been written by a different author.
The first, "The Winter Soldiers," is just as great as anything in "The Short-Timers;" the second, "Travels with Charlie," comes off like "Dances with Wolves" in Vietnam; and the third, "The Proud Flesh," almost reads like a political book, with long diatribes against the US government.
Gustav Hasford wrote three novels-"The Short-Timers, "The Phantom Blooper," and "Gypsy Good-Time"-before he died in obscurity in Greece, where he had exiled himself after being released from the California prison he had been sent to for stealing thousands of library books.

THX1138 was the name of George Lucas' first movie and that number makes an appearance in almost all of his movies.
He's not played by Samuel L. Jackson as he was through the rest of the movie, as this scene was filmed later on in production, when Samuel could not make the shots, so a look-alike had to stand in for him.

I just finished reading The Phantom Blooper, which is Gustav Hasford's second novel about Vietnam.
The Phantom Blooper was published in 1990, although indications are that it was written long before, and only after FMJ was released could Hasford publish it.
The Phantom Blooper picks up the story where Joker is stationed at Khe Sanh, one of the more horrific places of the whole war.

So the phantom didn't dissappear and meg would have revealed him if she pulled away the cape.

Taken on its own artistic merits, The Phantom Menace — for me and pretty much every older fan I know, anyway — is a maddening mixed bag.
What's doubly frustrating is that the movie's worst moments are placed cheek-by-jowl alongside its best — making it tough to chapter-search The Phantom Menace to watch only "the good parts." That fart joke, for example, is right there in the otherwise dynamic pod race.
In terms of presentation and design and quality of extras, the Phantom Menace two-platter set really is one of the better DVDs yet produced.

 Full Metal Jacket Movie -The 80s Rewind «
Gustav Hasford began working on "The Shortimers" (the book which Full Metal Jacket is based upon) while serving in Vietnam, and based many of the characters (and names) off of those he served with.
Gustav Hasford, who wrote the novel on which the film is based, wrote a sequel called "The Phantom Blooper" and in it Joker switches sides and fights for the VC!
He also had a third one planned where Joker becomes a reporter for the LA Times, but he died before he could start it.
