This fourth adventure in the Pink Panther saga focuses on a new enemy for Clouseau and evolves the character to all new heights of clumsiness and idiocracy.
Strikes Again is true comic genius and is closer to today's crime-fighting comedies such as Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery.
The Pink Panther Strikes Again is the fourth film in the Pink Panther series, after The Pink Panther and A Shot in the Dark.

Having bought the Pink Panther Box set, thinking that all the pink panther movies where included (which there not), I was upset that probally the best movie (The Return of the Pink Panther) was not included.
Having been a fan of "The Pink Panther" series from childhood, I was ecstatic that this set was being released, as the films are otherwise out of print on DVD (although luckily I still have my trusty VHS copies in reserve).
The five original "Panther" films collected in this set range from the nostalgic pleasures of the first to the sludge of "Trail of the Pink Panther" -- a barely watchable collection of Sellers outtakes borne along by a why-bother story -- but with Peter Sellers onscreen the laughs never completely faded away.

Given the fact that the assessment of comedy is intrinsically subjective, this film is arguably laugh for laugh and sight gag for sight gag the funniest of the five (followed closely by the second of the series, the hilarious farce, "A Shot In The Dark).
I have seen The Pink Panther, A Shot In The Dark, Inspector Clouseau, The Return of the Pink Panther, this one, and The Pink Panther{2006}.
The script, by director Blake Edwards and Frank Waldman (who wrote all the PINK PANTHER films of the 1970s), is a non-stop laugh riot, one hilarious moment after another, brought to life by outrageously funny performances from Peter Sellers and Herbert Lom.

The fourth installment in the Pink Panther series (after skipping over The Return of the Pink Panther, which isn't included in this set), The Pink Panther Strikes Again puts Inspector Clouseau in an odd parody of a spy thriller, along the same lines as the later Austin Powers.
There are still some funny moments in The Pink Panther Strikes Again (Clouseau and the parallel bars; the first scene with Cato; Clouseau resuscitating Dreyfus; the Steinway piano incident).
In fact, the credit sequence featuring an animated Clouseau and Pink Panther, is by far the cleverest full scene in the film.
