In the original Pink Panther movie, the main focus was on David Niven's role as Sir Charles Lytton, who is the infamous jewel thief "the Phantom", and his plan to steal the Pink Panther from its owner.
In Son of the Pink Panther, he deals with Clouseau's equally buffoonish son Jacques Gambrelli but, going by the track record of his nemesis, is more accepting of him than he was of Clouseau himself.
