  MPD Police Band
The first public appearance of the Police Band was on May 10, 1898, before the annual convention of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, which was held in the City of Milwaukee.
In July of 1988, the Minneapolis Police Band traveled to Milwaukee for the first time and a joint concert was held at the Milwaukee County Zoo grounds.
The members of the Milwaukee Police Band continue in their quest as "goodwill ambassadors" to the citizens of Milwaukee, and they cherish the opportunity to do their part in improving the quality of life of this fine city.

 Strathclyde Police Pipe Band - Band History
Uniquely, the band’s existence was endorsed by an act of parliament and the band shares with the 9th Battalion of the Highland Light Infantry T.A. (Glasgow Highlanders), the distinction of being the one of the first pipe bands to be formed outwith the ranks of the British Army.
Military bands would thus be expected to show as their chief merits, a good appearance and a keen sense of time, civilian bands since their purpose is a pleasurable one, would be expected to have primarily a good repertoire and a pleasing standard of playing.

 Police Band
The Manchester City Police Band as it was then known was hired to play at the funeral of a policeman who was killed on duty in the 1870's, and it played so badly that it prompted musicians within the City Police to form their own.
In 1968 the band became the Manchester and Salford Police Band, and with the amalgamation of Police forces, in 1974, it was again renamed as the Greater Manchester Police Band.
The musicians comprise of serving and retired police officers, support staff from the police and civilian members of the community, which boasts to be one of the best wind bands in the North West.

The Delta Police Pipe Band was formed in 1971 by members of the Delta Police Department under the direction of Pipe Major Bruce Topp and Drum Major Bob Burns.

 Hamilton Police Pipe Band - History - Hamilton, Ontario, Canada
The Hamilton Police Service has had a pipe band in some form for more than 40 years, and remains one of the oldest police force pipe bands on the continent.
The band was first organized in 1961 for a local parade.

 Band History
It took all of three years before the band was ready ready to perform in public, and following a weeks final training and practice at the Papakura Military Camp in South Auckland, the band took to the streets of Auckland on Sunday 29 August 1948, led by Drum Major Constable Bob Walton.
On 20 and 21 November 1948, shortly after the bands first appearance, the Auckland Provincial pipe band contest was held at Auckland, at which the Auckland Police Highland Pipe Band was placed second in the street march section.
Police General Instructions allow for the combination of the Auckland and Wellington bands into the New Zealand Police Highland Pipe Band wearing the King George VI Tartan.

 The Police Pipe Band
In 1946 an application was made to the Commissioner of Police by a number of pipers and drummers currently serving in the Police Force to form a Police Pipe Band.
After the Pipe Band was officially established, members of the unit decided to be financially independent of the Police Department, and since its foundation the Band was solely responsible for meeting all relevant costs in the upkeep of uniform and general equipment.

 Luther Francois to perform with Royal St. Lucia Police Band

 About Us - Essex Police Band
In 2005 the Band have been invited to play at the Backnang Strassenfest (street festival) as guests of the local Twinning Association as Backnang is the twin town of Chelmsford.

 The beginnings
The band progressed well enough to be able to give their first performance on 30th August, 1895 at 4.30pm at the Central Police Barracks for the Inspector General and his officers.
Garvin, was apathetic towards the band, had refused them permission to perform at a fete and had not given approval for a concert to raise band funds.
The band committee responded to this article by sending a report to the Inspector General of Police condemning the article and assuring him they had nothing to do with it and would abide by his ruling.

Dundee Police Pipe Band went into the doldrums when they lost there Pipers, with army experience, as they retired and were not replaced.

The Big Band were led by keyboard player Andy Hudson, and gained quite a reputation for live performances in the Newcastle area.
The band's Walking On The Moon was also reported to be due to inclusion on the soundtrack album to Eddie Kidd's film Riding High, but we've been unable to confirm wether it actually appeared on the LP.
