Another 40% is made up of Esters with marked relaxing effects on tissues - relieving tension in injured areas and allowing natural perfusion to take place.
To begin with we must distinguish between the two polyunsaturated fatty acids which are termed essential because they can not be made in the body and therefore must be present in the diet.

New View of Statistics: Repeated Measures - 2
So when you average the difference scores, the practice effect disappears and you are left with the treatment effect, provided the two groups have the same number of subjects.
For example, if the practice effect is about the same size as the treatment effect, one set of difference scores will be around zero, and the other will tend to be twice as large as the treatment effect.
Any practice effect should be the same for both groups, so it disappears when you calculate the change in the experimental group minus the change in the control group.

Classics in the History of Psychology -- Stroop (1935)
441) concluded that "the interference effect of an association bears a constant relation to the practice effect, and is, in fact, equivalent to it." Both Bair and Culler found that the interference of the opposing habits disappeared if the habits were practiced alternately.
In the latter experiment the interference was overbalanced by the practice effect.
Practice was found either to increase or to decrease the variability of the group depending upon the nature of the material used.

A second purpose is to determine if the practice effect of one test has any effect on the performance of a different test.
Practice effect is the term used to describe how repetition in testing improves performance.
Each student's scores were averaged and computed to find their percent change in WPM due to practice effect and to actual improvement, comparing the first trial of the first test to the second, final test.

 Reverberation Effect: Theory & Practice
The reverberation effect shows up in a richer booming volume sounding which is usually more pleasant for perception than a source "dry" sound.
Apart from general system effects (reverberation, chorus) there is at least one more assigned unit of effects which provides a couple of additional reverberation types.
It is based on a natural effect of faster damping of a high-frequency sound spectrum in course of an acoustic reverberation.

 Spacing practice to aid remembering
It has long been known that spacing practice (reviewing learning or practicing a skill at spaced intervals) is far more effective than massed practice (in one heavy session).
It is also well-known that people commonly over-estimate the value of massed practice, and tend not to give due recognition to the value of spacing practice, despite the fact that most memory improvement and study programs advise it.
Clearly, simple instructions to use spaced practice improve memory, but equally clearly, many people are not necessarily going to follow those instructions, for whatever reason.

The Effect of Practice on the Necker Cube
In this study I will not only take another look at the effect practice has on the ability to flip the orientation of the cube, but also at the effect practice has on the ability to prevent the cube from flipping once one has learned to flip it.
However, my research turned out to be inconsistent both with previous studies and with my predictions that learning would have an effect of the ability to keep the Necker Cube from "flipping." There was no significant trend in the data to show any sort of effect of practice.

FAQ: How does the Real Estate Effect the Practice Value? - Simmons & Associates
With the exception of mobile practices, every practice must have a facility in which to operate.
If the practice owner also owns the real estate, he or she actually has two separate investments.
One is the practice and everything in it, and the other is the building and the real estate it is sitting on.

Human-Animal Relationships as They Effect the Practice of Holistic Medicine
Unfortunately, when we experience the negative effects of a less-than-optimal relationship first-hand, a tendency exists to dismiss the owner as a nut-case and give little thought to what these relationships might actually mean in terms of animal health.
Nonetheless, any definition of a holistic veterinary practice must include the owner-animal bond simply because that relationship affects the animal's physiology in and of itself.

The Practice follows the GPs' progress over the course of nearly a year as they prepare for these changes while continuing to care for their 12,000 patients.
The first programme charts the personal journey Dr Xavier Nalletamby, a medico-politician, as he becomes increasingly disillusioned with the effect of reforms.
He and his fellow GPs fear that they will be inundated with paperwork, will lose their one-to-one relationship with their patients and that there will be limited out-of-hours care for their patients as GPs are allowed to opt out of this service.

 GMC | Good Medical Practice
Good Medical Practice sets out the principles and values on which good practice is founded; these principles together describe medical professionalism in action.
We have provided links to other guidance and information which illustrate how the principles in Good Medical Practice apply in practice, and how they may be interpreted in other contexts; for example, in undergraduate education, in revalidation, or in our consideration of a doctor's conduct, performance or health through our fitness to practise procedures.

Short glasses more likely to lead to over-indulgence
After several practice pours, half the students were given tall, slender 355 ml glasses and half were given short, wide 355 ml glasses.
They were then asked to pour a standard "shot" of alcohol (1.5 ounces, 44.3 ml) for four mixed drinks (vodka tonic, rum and Coke, whiskey on the rocks, and gin and tonic).
Among students, practice reduced the tendency to overpour into tall glasses, but not into short, wide glasses.

The Practice Effect is a novel by David Brin, written in 1984 (see 1984 in literature).
It is eventually discovered that this effect is the result of a biologically engineered creature known as a krenegee beast which creates the field with this effect.
The closer one is to the krenegee beasts, the better you can make use of this change in thermodynamics.

Wood-Smoke Handbook: Woodheaters, Firewood and Operator Practice - Effect of Operation on Wood-Smoke Emissions   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-18)
It is well established that poor operation of woodheaters contributes to excessive smoke, so if user behaviour could be modified it would be possible to rapidly reduce smoke emissions.
It is likely (but not well proven in scientific tests) that wet firewood also contributes to higher smoke emissions, so encouraging use of dry firewood only will probably also lead to reduced smoke emissions.
By increasing the height of the flue it is often possible to discharge the smoke into higher layers of air that simply pass well over neighbouring properties.

At the front of the dimly lit conference room, the portly, gray-haired director of the Sahara Institute of Technology paced back and forth -- staring at the ceiling with his hands clasped behind his back -- while he pontificated ponderously on a subject he clearly barely understood.
In reality he was just a little too lazy to qualify for the former, and just a bit too goodhearted for the latter.
After the lecture, as the crowd of sleepy junior scientists dispersed to find secret corners in which to nap, Dennis paused by the department bulletin board, hoping to see an advertisement for another research center working in zievatronics.

Looking at the copyright dates of his books, it looks like "The Practice Effect" is either his third or his fourth novel.
Then in 1984, he wrote (apparently) both this book and "The Uplift War." From a technical perspective (i.e., the style of the writing), it's hard to believe that he wrote this book right in the middle of his Uplift War saga.
The second half of the book became irritating to me. Every thing could be fixed with the practice effect, regardless that it was something that rarely had ever happened before in the world that the story takes place in.
