THREE YOUNG MEN [Three Young Men] in the Book of Daniel, the three men cast by Nebuchadnezzar into the fiery furnace and delivered by an angel.
The Song of the Three Holy Children is one of the portions of the Book of Daniel that appears in the Greek texts but not in the Hebrew-Aramaic versions.
It recounts the actions of the three men in the furnace, first a prayer by Azarias for the victory of God, then a hymn by all three in praise of God; the portion from verse 57 is called Benedicite.

A third significant objection (though generally less emphasized than the previous two) by secular historians is the account of the insanity suffered by Nebuchadnezzar found in the fourth chapter of Daniel.
In the Dead Sea Scrolls a fragment known as The Prayer of Nabonidus (4QPrNab) discusses a disease suffered by Nabonidus, and it is thought that the insanity of Nebuchadnezzar discussed by Daniel is actually evidence that an oral tradition of one strange disease was actually transmogrified through retelling into a tale mistakenly recorded by Daniel.

The brothers lived in the deserted lazar house of Rivo Torto near Assisi; but they spent much of their time traveling through the mountainous districts of Umbria, always cheerful and full of songs, yet making a deep impression on their hearers by their earnest exhortations.
Their life was extremely ascetic, though such practises were apparently not prescribed by the first rule which Francis gave them (probably as early as 1209), which seems to have been nothing more than a collection of Scriptural passages emphasizing the duty of poverty.

One of the problems of the rabbinical traditions is that the relationship of the Song to the concepts of the nephesh or soul (here showing the Babylonian influence) stem from the inability to relate the text to Messiah as the Beloved and the Church as the holy maiden.
The symbolism is in essence derived from the Song of Songs.

The Prayer of Azariah and the Three Young Men, placed after Daniel 3:23, is a prayer of trust in God offered up by Azariah (i.e., Abednego - Dan 1:7) and his companions (Shadrach and Meshach) in the fiery furnace.
The most important are contained in the Apocrypha of the English Bible under the titles of The Son of the Three Holy Children, The History of Susannah, and The History of Bel and the Dragon.
The first of these is supposed to be the triumphal song of the three confessors in the furnace, (Daniel 3:23) praising God for their deliverance, of which a chief part (35-66) has been used as a hymn in the Christian Church since the fourth century.
