The Price is Right - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The original daytime version of The Price is Right ran from November 23, 1956 to September 6, 1963, on NBC, and from September 9, 1963, to September 3, 1965, on ABC.
There is also the Giant Price Tag, the Race Game Curtain, and a red curtain on wheels at center stage that can be used to conceal prizes and games; the Race Game Curtain is also lowered from the ceiling during commercial breaks to conceal the staging of the next act from the audience.
A total of 99 different games have been played throughout the history of the show: 73 are still in the current rotation, 24 have been retired, and 2 are in limbo (out of the rotation, but not actually retired).

A Salute to Game Shows - The Price is Right - Pricing Games
Four small prizes are presented with wrong prices; player guesses "higher" or "lower" to win ezch prize and to control the window on the game board next to the prize.
Contestant is shown four prizes and the "danger price" and picks the three prizes that are not that price.
Originally played on the turntable, then behind the giant price tag, and finally behind Door #2 with the prizes, this is the only Pricing Game to have had three different stage set-ups.

The Price Is Right   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
The Price is Right jumped for the past 4 years because it's getting irritating to watch contestants take way too much time to listen to everything the audience says before making a bid, choosing a right price, number, etc and the Bob must push them along.
The Price is Right never jumped the shark, although during the 80s they did have a cute hurdler guy in the pricing game "Hurdles" who "jumped".
The first rotten apple of the Price is Right tree took the show and host Bob to court during the very early 1990s with the very last thing any Price viewer could think of as he or she views the latest Clock Game winner jump up in joy, gender harassment.

This article details the pricing games that have been played on ''The Price is Right'', a long-running television game show.
The first number of the price of a car is shown, with the other four covered up; also shown are the price of a less valuable three-digit prize and the amount of money, in dollars and cents, in the game's "piggy bank", made of the remaining three digits.
It clearly explains the rules for every solo game used on the show since the premiere, and is not bogged down with trivial information that would only be of interest to hardcore fans of the program.

 The Price Is Right
Three pricing games were played in every half-hour show, with new audience members coming down to take the place of the previous winner.
Five Price Tags: A 1972 original, this game asked contestants to identify whether the price on a given small-price item was true or false.
This was done by adding the Showcase Showdown after three pricing games were played, where the three winners spun a wheel with dollar amounts on it in increments of five cents between $.05 and $1.00.

The Price Is Right (AUS) Pricing Games - Australian Game Show Home Page
A major component of any "The Price Is Right" episode is a number of pricing games.
Most (if not all) of the pricing games currently being shown on the Aussie version of TPIR are based on those played on the parent US version.
At last count - I believe there were 26 different games being played on the most recent reincarnation of the show.

In most cases, there are three or four relatively similar prices on each prize card, and the host simply chooses whether price A, B C or D will be the "right" price for that game.
Game play flows a lot faster, rules are easy to follow and the nice pieces are so much easier to handle.
The game was supposed to come with four "pricers" for the qualifying game, but only included one (a packaging error according to Endless).

The Price Is Right Pricing Games
Research tells me there have been more than 90 pricing games that have been used over the years, after seeing some new ones over the Thanksgiving holiday, that number may be over 100.
To be the best a game has to have some mileage on it...stood up to the test of time as it were.
There are some boring games like One Right Price, Most Expensive, or 5 Price Tags (although I do love the set for that one); but let's take a quick look at some of the truly bad games, some you've probably never seen.

The Price is Right   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
After over 25 years on the air, "The Price Is Right" is the oldest (and definitely the highest-rated) of all daytime television game shows, and one of the few game shows to have survived a time when daytime TV was dominated by talk shows and soap operas.
It's also the only game show where you don't have to run a gauntlet of difficult tests, practice sessions and interviews to become a contestant.
To have a chance of being called up onto the "Price Is Right" stage as a contestant, all you have to do to is to sit in the studio audience and wait for them to call out your name.

What the Barker's Beauties do is model the prizes that they give away on The Price is Right, from cash to cars.
It is the Barker's Beauty's job to drive that new car on stage, to show off that hand-painted screen, to stamp "void" on the Check Game check if it is so needed, to reveal prices at times, and it continues.
They are absolutely an indispensable part of The Price is Right, and we would miss them terribly if they were to ever not be a part of it all.
