I'll be covering some TV series which are not renown for their Femme Fatale content so don't expect to see those series which could have an article of their own ('Jake and the Fatman', 'Alias', 'The Professionals'.
This series is almost unique for the police/crime genre in that the number of female villains is virtually zero.
This series has deservedly had two series already and whilst it lacks the action sequences in many of it's American equivalents it is still a refreshing piece of drama in a TV world which is becoming increasingly given over to soaps, quiz shows and reality TV shows.

Archived: TV Viewing and Parental Guidance
Children may learn negative behavior patterns and values from many other experiences as well as TV programs, and parental guidance is needed to help children sort out these influences and develop the ability to make sound decisions on their own.
The decision to watch TV is influenced by several factors, including the lack of any preferred or required alternative activity; fondness for particular programs or characters; habit; and mood.
TV programs often present a very selective view of life, with glamor in stark contrast to the real people children come into contact with.

BBC - h2g2 - 'The Professionals' - the TV show
Actor Martin Shaw grew to dislike the violent series that made him famous - he'd accepted the role of Doyle (after it was turned down by Jon Finch) only because there was nothing else going at the time.
Since The Professionals ended, he's not been on our screens with any great regularity - aside from a guest appearance in Robin of Sherwood - and now lives in the USA with his wife and children.
This seems to be borne out by the fact that he has since allowed the series to be repeated on satellite TV (it has been shown a lot on the Granada Plus channel) and released on video.

The Professionals (TV series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Professionals was a British crime-action television drama series that aired on the ITV network from 1977 to 1983, filmed between 1977 and 1981.
The series was conceived as a response to The Sweeney, and was similar in style to Starsky and Hutch.
However, in the first (1977) series, the cars used were mainly those of British Leyland, including a Rover SD1, a Rover P6, a Leyland Princess, a Triumph 2000, a Triumph Dolomite and a Triumph TR7 had been the cars of choice for Bodie and Doyle and CI5 in general.

Collins used the exposure on The Professionals for later, more ambitious and challenging projects, be it on TV, the movie screen or the theater stage, which is where you can find him most frequently these days.
Aside from the series that made him a household name throughout Britain, Germany, The Netherlands and Sweden, he is probably most famous for his portrayal of Sergeant Godley in the lavish TV production Jack The Ripper with Michael Caine.
The series at that point was filmed largely in 35mm except for some action sequences; but the original elements were, to my great regret, not retransferred.

In this still popular series Simon Templar was pitted against criminals and police alike as he rescued damsels in distress and the occasional damsel who was out to cause some distress including the woman in gold from 'Goldfinger' (Shirley Eaton).
There was an unsuccessful attempt to resuscitate the series on satellite TV but for one reason or another I didn't quite get round to seeing it, which is a real shame as the episode 'Miss Hit' is allegedly a hitwoman classic.
The BIG plus as far as I was concerned was to see Branna (Elena) Brajic again (she was the first villainess in the 'Bugs' TV series), as the leader of a cult of women assassins.

This does contain the middle sequence that is in the original sheet score for the TV theme, which you may recognise as the car chase incidental music from 'Hunter, Hunted'.
You would think that record labels, especially one's like this who are supposedly "specialists" in TV themes, would have the research capability to simply dig the original KPM recording out and get it licensed for release on a compilation.

Perhaps the most easily parodied action series of its era, The Professionals was the one about the gruff but fatherly counter-terrorist top cop Cowley (Gordon Jackson) and his favourite surrogate sons, the curly haired ex-copper Ray Doyle (Martin Shaw) and taciturn-but-pouting ex-mercenary William Bodie (Lewis Collins).
As set out by series creator Brian Clemens (veteran of the more fantastical Avengers), their job was to stop threats to the government, visiting dignitaries or the general public "by any means necessary".
All three leads were professionals of another stripe--the sort of actors who could soar with a good script and do their best to sell a weak one--and they were generally set against a parade of top-flight British character acting talent along with sundry sit-com/pin-up refugee disposable girlfriends and suspects.
