The Panorama of Racławice counts also as one of the active members of the Congress of European Panoramas, which is engaged in popularisation of panoramic paintings and promotion of the cities hosting such paintings.

Fought on 4th April 1794, the battle was an overwhelming victory over the Russian army by the Insurrection troops commanded by Tadeusz Kosciuszko.

 Poland Gives Medal To New York Restorer - New York Times
Gustav Berger, an art conservator from New York City, yesterday received the Special Medal of Merit for Polish Culture from the Polish Government for his part in restoring ''The Panorama of Raclawice,'' a 400-foot-long historical painting on exhibit in Wroclaw, Poland.
The huge, circlular painting depicts the victory of the Polish hero, Thadeus Kosciusko, over Czarist Russia near the village of Raclawice in 1794.
Berger devised a way to restore and hang the painting, which had been in storage since World War II, in a specially built rotunda where it could be viewed as a diorama.
