The Ramones' self-titled debut is a justifiably adored album--not just one of the best albums to come out of the initial New York punk explosion of the mid-'70s, but one of the greatest rock and roll albums of all time.
While the remaining songs are still undoubtedly great, by the end of the album it is already clear that their `back to basics' approach created a musical straitjacket from which they (and all other punks) would struggle to escape.
The Ramones are the godfathers of punk and this album probably encouraged a whole generation of bands to give it a go.

Adrian's Album Reviews : The Ramones
My problems with the Ramones are probably the same as everyone else's who hates them: their songs all sound the same, the songs (esp the choruses) are too repetitive, the songs are too underproduced, and the singer's voice.....

Waits's 'Orphans' fits right in - The Boston Globe
The album, featuring 30 new recordings and a 94-page booklet, is divided into three discs with fitting titles: "Brawlers," "Bawlers," and "Bastards"; that's exactly what each one delivers.
Nearly every song seems to reference one of Waits's previous albums, from the late-night piano-bar blues of "World Keeps Turning" (perfect for 1973's "Closing Time") to the brash blues stomp of "Lucinda" (an outtake from 2004's "Real Gone," perhaps?).
"Bastards" is the most quixotic of the albums, a hodgepodge of hiss-ridden demos ("Home I'll Never Be"), covers (of songs by Daniel Johnston, Kurt Weill, the Ramones, and others), and creepy spoken-word narratives ("First Kiss") in search of a David Lynch film soundtrack.
