RCA REVIEW June 1949 on the 45 rpm record changer
With records of constant thickness, all practical designs of selecting means cause some damage to the edge, body, or center hole area since the records have to be forced apart or slid one against the other to effect selection.
The dimensions of the depressed area and the spacing between the record changer shelf and blade are such as to bring the center of the blade in line with the center of the air space provided between the records.
Another factor evolved from the fact that the records are separated from the center and that record changer operation therefore is not affected by the thickness of the outside edge of the record.

 RECORD CHANGERS
But the next two designs treated the 7" record as an equal to the other sizes in every way, large-hole or small-hole (but both changers did require that only one size at a time be used, because the shelf had to be set for record size in all cases).
Motorola came up with a weird triangular record changer, with the pickup arm and record shelf at one corner, the speed control knob at another corner, and the power-reject knob at the third corner.
Since the arm scan touches the edge of the records to check the size, and to sense the absence of records, the overarm would be in the way of the scan if placed against the edge of the records.

The satellite pictures appear to confirm earlier studies by the British Antarctic Survey that predicted the 12,000-square-kilometer ice shelf was nearing its stability limit.
Currently the Larsen B is the northernmost ice shelf in Antarctica, and therefore "on the front line of the warming trend," said Scambos.
Reaching up to 800 meters in thickness in some cases, the largest ice shelf is the Ross Ice Shelf, which is larger than the state of Texas.

But the band writing the new album was not what the record company wanted to hear, they didn't want to trust the band to write their own songs, they wanted to bring in outside writers instead.
The record company decided to go along with Hughes but the proviso was that the album would not initially be released in the states and the expected sales would have to top 3 million.

Back up again to the part where the beat comes in, and with your hand on the record, scratch over the down beat a few times, in such a way that you push over the down beat on the record you are queueing at the same time the down beat on the running record hits.
Some people "push" a record that's lagged a bit with their fingers, and "drag" a slightly too fast record by holding a finger over the label and creating drag as the record spins under it.
The easiest mix at all to make is to have one record that has no-beat breaks in it, and mix a record with a beat-only intro over it.
