  The Red Shoes
The Red Shoes (1948) is a British film directed by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger.
The inventive, self-referential plot of this film tells the story of a young ballerina forced to perform in a ballet called The Red Shoes, based on a story by Hans Christian Andersen about a woman who cannot stop dancing.
There is also a song and an album called The Red Shoes by Kate Bush, in reference to the film.

The core of The Red Shoes album is amazing to me. I seriously dislike several songs on the album, but those central songs to me are among her best, most complex-&-simple-at-the-same-time songs.
Sure I was disappointed in The Red Shoes and The Sensual World wasn't as good as Hounds of Love, but I just don't expect her to ever surpass my favorite album of all time.
This album, including songs that KB wrote when she was twelve years old, clearly demonstrated her genius and established a permanent place for her at the top of the British music scene.

Rolling Stone : The Red Shoes : Review
On her first album since The Sensual World, in 1989, Kate Bush continues in the manner of that album's verbal directness while displaying a melodic sense that's in peak form – there are more hooks on The Red Shoes, both subtle and obvious, than on any of her releases since The Dreaming, in 1982.
And there are similarities between Siberry's When I Was a Boy and Shoes – both display a preoccupation with the difficulty of separating pain and love; both evoke a questioning spirituality and a distinctly feminine earthiness.
But Siberry's album is as funereal and expansive as Bush's is tight and energized.

The Red Shoes is not at all a bad album.
Highlights for me on the album are "Lily" with its urgent beat and vocals and Kaballa-derived lyrics (yup, Kate practised Kaballa before Kaballa was cool) and "Big Stripy Lie" in which Kate plays deliberately crude guitar and bass parts over a rudimentary beat.

Members promote awareness of Red Cross services in a variety of ways such as taping public service announcements; conducting media interviews about the organization; donating their time, money and blood; visiting disaster sites; feeding victims of disaster and generally lending a hand or a hug to those in need.
By joining the cabinet, these respected public figures are essentially “on-call” for the Red Cross, donating their time, skills, passion and energy for a one-year term to help the organization when it's needed most.
