POL: ASP: 29th Annual Meeting: Abstracts
No difference in distribution of skin type was detected between dermatology and orthopaedic patients, implying that the survey was representative of the general population, In the last two years, we have surveyed the skin type of 200 patients with non-melanoma skin cancers (NMSC).
All patients with squamous cell carcinomas were either skin type I or II, by contrast patients with basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) comprised 19% skin type I, 51% skin type II and 29% skin type III reflecting skin types found in the general population.
Basal cell carcinoma patients (Skin types I and II) however were found to produce a pattern of apoptosis after 3MEDs which differed from a skin type and MED matched set of controls, implying that DNA damage limitation mechanisms are impaired in patients with BCCs.

Reflecting Skin call their sound "apocalyptic gypsy music," and given their experimental approaches (bassist Alex Milne uses a bowed bass, guitarist Christian Gilbert applies manic sampling alongside riffs, and there's even mention of a folded wine glass played by the album's mixer, Bruce Mcfarland), it's easy to accept this self-ascribed category.

"The Reflecting Skin" is like "Twin Peaks" from a child's point of view — a coming-of-age summer of hell amid golden wheatfields from an Andrew Wyeth painting.
The press kit also notes that Ridley was 29 when he made "The Reflecting Skin." To some that may mean he's a genius to be hailed.
"The Reflecting Skin" is not rated but would certainly get an R for some shocking violence (though most of it is offscreen), sex, nudity and a couple of profanities.

A "sunblock" most commonly uses zinc oxide or titanium oxide to "block" the sun's harmful rays from penetrating the skin by reflecting it.
UVB rays are rays that burn the skin during peak sun hours (between 10AM and 2PM) in the summer months and UVA rays- are rays that cause aging year round, regardless of weather.

Set in a 1950s-era American heartland of sprawling wheat fields and lonely old houses, The Reflecting Skin is British director Philip Ridley's fascinating and very strange investigation into the horrors of childhood innocence and fantasy.
The film's mixture of gruesome subject matter, morbid sexual perversion, and disarming humor has spawned comparisons to the work of David Lynch, particularly Blue Velvet and the Twin Peaks series.
It is not surprising that writer/director Philip Ridley has also published books for children, since watching The Reflecting Skin is a lot like reading a young adult novel, albeit a horrific one.

The Myth of the Management Team Business Graeme Nichol
All too often, teams in business tend to spend their time fighting for turf, avoiding anything that will make them look bad personally, and pretending that everyone is behind the team’s collective strategy — maintaining the appearance of a cohesive team.
To keep up the image, they seek to squelch disagreement; people with serious reservations avoid stating them publicly, and joint decisions are watered-down compromises reflecting what everyone can live with, or else reflecting one person’s view foisted on the group.
If there is disagreement, it’s usually expressed in a manner that lays blame, polarizes opinion, and fails to reveal the underlying differences in assumptions and experience in a way that the team as a whole could learn.
