The Revolution (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It is unknown when the band was actually dubbed "The Revolution," but the name was indicated (in reverse lettering) on Prince's 1999 album, released in 1982.
Gayle Chapman quit the band in 1980 due to religious conflicts and was replaced by Lisa Coleman.
The new incarnation of the band was unnamed, though some members of the new band referred to the group as the "Counter-Revolution", and fans came to dub it as "The Lovesexy Band".

Revolution - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The word revolution means "a turn around." This may be a change in the social or political institutions over a relatively short period of time, or a major change in its culture or economy.
A political revolution is the forcible replacement of one set of rulers with another (as happened in France and Russia), while a social revolution is the fundamental change in the social structure of a society, such as the Protestant Reformation or the Renaissance.
Social and political revolutions are often "institutionalized" when the ideas, slogans, and personalities of the revolution continue to play a prominent role in a country's political culture, long after the revolution's end.

Social and political revolutions can both be characterised by violence, and the vast changes in power structures that result can often result in further, institutionalised, violence, as in the Russian and French revolutions (with the "Purges" and "the Terror", respectively).
A political revolution is the forcible replacement of one set of rulers with another (as happened in France and Russia), while a social revolution is the fundamental change in the social structure of a society; many would point to the Spanish Revolution, which occurred parallel to the Spanish Civil War, as an example of this.
A revolution is normally considered to be a relatively swift change: for example, in Spain, in 1936, anarchist and communist groups quickly took control of many areas on the first day of the Civil War (triggered by Franco's attempted coup).

Just like early jazz was an amalgamation of the music of its era, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band's musical revolution was actually a reintroduction of the basic eclecticism that made jazz the most dynamic music of the 20th century.
For over seventy-five years, the brass band tradition existed largely unchanged until this forward-looking, bebop-influenced ensemble completely changed both the style and the repertoire of brass band music.
The band has received broad critical acclaim including a "Jazz Album of the Year" award from CMJ as well as five star ratings from both Downbeat and Jazz Times.

I think that usually, that’s the way a band gets signed — they submit their demo to their lawyer and their lawyer sends it out to five labels and one or two of the labels freak out and then all of the others freak out because of that.
There are so many bands out there that will sell three million on their first record and their next record will sell 200,000 because they didn’t get a fanbase.

Pure Reason Revolution: The Dark Third - PopMatters Music Review
The Dark Third is the first full-length release from Pure Reason Revolution, a band formed at Westminster University in 2003.
Many of Pure Reason Revolution’s musical traits can be traced back to Floyd, including the tendency to mix psychedelic soundscapes with soaring vocal melodies and the practice of unifying albums through specific concepts.
Instead of finding ways to cleverly navigate transitions, the band simply fades out between sections, thereby losing some of the momentum that is characteristic of the very best music.

Since nearly seven years had passed since dEus had issued an album (The Ideal Crash dropped in 1999, and it wasn't exactly easy to locate in the U.S.), it was certainly understandable for fans to figure that the band had quietly packed it in.
Pocket Revolution finally arrived in 2006 (the album was first made available in 2005 as an import, however), and once more, the group offers an album that refuses to be pinned down to a single style.
It's easy to pick out modern-day bands which sound comparable, such as the Coldplay-ish "7 Days, 7 Weeks" and the Eels-ish "If You Don't Get What You Want," but dEus has been around a heck of a lot longer.
