 Donovan
Donovan's second single 'Colours' was released in May, reaching #4, accompanied by his debut LP for Pye, 'What's Been Did And What's Been Hid', which reached #3 in the UK album charts.
Donovan had also considered giving it to Jimi Hendrix (United States guitarist whose innovative style with electric guitars influenced the development of rock music (1942-1970)), but when Mickie Most heard it, he convinced Donovan that the song was a sure-fire single and that he should record it himself.
Donovan became the first high-profile British pop star to be arrested for possession of marijuana (A strong-smelling plant from whose dried leaves a number of euphoriant and hallucinogenic drugs are prepared), which evidently occurred some time in late 1966.

The Donovan Scrapbook - The Goldmine Article
Donovan himself put out his first new album in eight years in 1991, a recording of vintage live performances called Donovan Rising in the U.K. and The Classics Live in the U.S. In 1992, he was given the boxed set treatment, with Sony Music's Legacy division issuing the two-CD/cassette retrospective Troubadour: The Definite Collection/1964-1976.
Donovan's five-year contract of 1966 was due to expire at the end of 1970, though, by the label's reckoning, he had failed to deliver all the albums called for by the contract.
Donovan left Hickory Records acrimoniously; the label retained the rights to his 1965 material and, as will be shown, it periodically release competing reissues when Donovan releases new albums.

This album is not recommended for anyone who likes Sonic Youth on the strength of their later works, but it's perfect for no-wave aficionados like myself.
The atmosphere of the album is mostly dank and oppressive, without any of the sense of genuine artistic liberation that came with the band's following albums.
The sound of this EP is much cleaner and crisper than the album that was to follow, but the songwriting is slightly less strong.

Bad Moon Rising by Creedence Clearwater Revival Songfacts
One group especially being Creedence Clearwater Revival, and their song: "Bad Moon Rising." The song deeply influenced by the Stones' "Paint It Black".
The line "There's a bad moon on the rise" is often heard as "There's a bathroom on the right." Not only do many people sing the wrong lyrics, but John Fogerty himself sang the "bathroom on the right" lyric once during the "Premonition" concert.
As a result of this song, American football player Andre Rison's nickname was "Bad Moon," as in "Bad Moon Risin'." Rison was an all-pro wide receiver, but is also famous for having his house burned down by Lisa (Left Eye) Lopes, a singer with TLC who was his girlfriend at the time.

Yes, "Bad Moon Rising" might not have been prophetic -- its lyrics are too vague -- but it still sounds like a warning, a siren's wail saying the good times couldn't last.
In 1969 when Creedence released its third album, Green River, the Summer of Love was long over, the Tet Offensive had redefined US involvement in Vietnam and while Woodstock would seem to be the crescendo of all that was optimistic in popular culture, Altamont would eventually wipe all that away.
By the time of its release, Creedence was a hit-making machine: three albums in less than two years, seven Top 10 singles (though they never had a #1 song in the US), they even played Woodstock.

This author's interpretation of the term "folk-rock" focuses on (while not exclusively attributing the phenomenon to) the rise and subsequent development of what might be loosely termed protest music in the States, from acoustic coffee-house and agit-prop obscurity to trend-setting paisley modishness and psychedelic revolution.
As with any choice of 'essential' albums it is very subjective although I found it an illuminating insight to blues albums.

The downfall of this album for me as that while I love Maiden and the slower stuff they put here and there on some of their later albums, "The Bad Moon Rising" is almost like an entire album of that slower material which can make it drag in some spots.
When I say that "The Bad Moon Rising" sounds like modern day Iron Maiden, I mean the slower more ballad type stuff that was present on some parts of "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son" and "Brave New World".
While there are keyboards pretty much throughout the album (which I tend to despise), they are very well played and this great production places them in the background more as a supporting aspect for the rest of the music on the album.

An album quite unlike any other in the colorful Sonic Youth canon, Bad Moon Rising captures the New York band in 1985 during its most morose phase, one that is quite forbidding yet fascinating all the same.
The proper album is an eight-song tapestry of droning guitar feedback, distant clattering percussion, and dreamy vocal mumblings, all of it woven together by sullen interludes of ambient noise.
It's a piercing capstone to an otherwise hazy album and is no doubt one of the highlights of Sonic Youth's overall output.

Feeling burnt by his experience, John Fogerty started a more low-key solo career, then disappeared from the music scene entirely to get some distance from what had become for him a rather painful business.
