Road to Morocco - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Road to Morocco is a 1942 comedy film which tells the story of two fast-talking guys who find themselves tossed up on a desert shore and sold into slavery to a beautiful princess.
The film has been deemed "culturally significant" by the United States Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.
The Road to Morocco is one of several Hope, Crosby and Lamour "road movies":

Morocco is presented as a place where people sell each other into slavery “beat you with whips and make you pick cotton”[1], and husbands “saw their wives in half”.
The whole of Morocco is comprised in a palace, a desolate desert, and a chaotic market place where the women are so irresistible that Orville wishes he had his “drool cup” with him.
The Road to Morocco is a film in which all the story takes place in the Arab world (Morocco, to be precise).

Driving away from the dunes on the same desert road, we saw a small, glittering lake in the dust, then another one, until it was a whole marsh.
The patchy, winding road with a ravine drop to one side was enough to think about, but we had the additional excitement of being chased by a four-wheel drive, whose drivers wore dark glasses and took a while to register our lack of interest in their merchandise.

In what may be the most cunning sales tactic we've seen yet in the weeks we've spent in and around the city of Marrakech, Morocco, Talia has scarcely mentioned carpets in the lilting mixture of French and English streaming from his lips.
It is perhaps our most fascinating conversation in Marrakech, but by no means the only time Moroccans candidly answered our questions about the kinds of travellers visiting their country when the rift between western and Islamic worlds seems wider by the day.
Marrakech is one of Morocco's largest, most African cities, and an ideal base for exploring the Atlas mountains that hem the city, the coast 175 kilometres to the west, and the northern Sahara desert, a day's drive southeast.

The picture is filled with great gags and one-liners, including Hope's lament for the Oscar he might have won; the camel's complaint that 'this is the screwiest picture I've ever been in!'; Hope's appearance in drag; and the backfire of the 'patty cake' routine, after which it's remarked, 'Hmmm.

dOc DVD Review: Road To Morocco (1942)
Road to Morocco was their third road movie in three years (after the roads to Singapore and Zanzibar), and the boys have the formula down pat.
The scenery isn't very good, and generally this journey is about as close to Morocco as you can get on a Southern California soundstage; it's the sort of movie in which, no matter what physical ordeals are thrown his way, Bing Crosby always looks nattily turned out in a carefully tailored double-breasted suit.
One of the funny things about the Road movies is that they're not sequels, exactly—Bob and Bing don't play the same characters from picture to picture, but we know they're the same guys, and they always manage to find the lovely Dorothy Lamour.

The Road to Morocco was the most popular of the 'Road' series of movies, and is generally judged the best.
Over in Region-1 land, DVD buyers are also given a Road to Morocco singalong feature, a 14-minute featurette in Bob Hope and the Road to Success and a clip from a Troops performance Bob Hope gave in 1945.

Dorothy Lamour is along for the ride, of course, and her scene in a tight clinch with Hope established a tradition of steamy comic exchanges through the series (as she croons a love song to him, he checks to see if his wallet is still in his pocket).
The chatter between Crosby and Hope already feels improvised, and it should be noted that the secret of their chemistry is not a sentimental friendship but a cheerfully hostile rivalry between the two characters, a cheeky approach that must've delighted audiences used to the Andy Hardy niceness of most Hollywood movies of that era.
The On The Road series of films revolve around the premise that Bob and Bing are broke knock around guys, that fall for the same woman (Dorthy Lamour) and the antics that suround them as they both try to win the girl and save the day.
