The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers is an infantry regiment of the British Army, part of the Queen's Division.
On 23 April 1968 the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers was formed from the four English Fusilier Regiments.
As one of the existing large infantry regiments, the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers is unaffected by the reforms of the infantry that were announced in December 2004.

The Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment) was a regiment in the British Army.
It was formed as a Fusilier regiment in 1685 by Lord Dartmouth, George Legge, from two companies of the Tower of London guard, and was originally called the Ordnance Regiment.
On 23 April 1968 the regiment was amalgamated with the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers (5th Ft.), The Royal Warwickshire Fusiliers (6th.Ft) and the Lancashire Fusiliers (20th Ft) to form 3rd.Bn.

The Royal Regiment of Fuzileers was raised in 1685 by King James II of England, Wales and Scotland.
The 7th Regiment of Foot, Royal Regiment of Fusileers served in the continental wars in Flanders (1685 to 1697), Spain (1702 to 1714) and on the continent during the Seven Years War (1756 to 1763).
The Royal Fusiliers served in the Colony of Quebec from 1773 to 1777 and fought at the sieges of Fort St. John, Fort Chambly and Quebec.

In 1881 the infantry regiments were restructured, most of the single battalion regiments numbered above 25 were paired up to become two battalion regiments, most of the Irish regiments also had three militia regiments affiliated as the 3rd 4th and 5th battalions (the exception to this were the two rifle regiments).
This regiment was originally raised in New York and Philadelphia (1755) as the 62nd Royal American Regiment of Foot, it was renumbered 60th in 1757 (the regiment was in the West Indies during the American war of Independence).
In 1824 the remaining foreigners were drafted out of the regiment, one battalion was converted to rifles, the other light infantry (the uniform was changed from red to green as was the norm with rifle regiments).
