The city started celebrating, only to awaken the next morning to learn that the war had not ended, that it was still on but that it could, from all accounts, not last much longer.
It began a celebration that lasted far into the night and never before or since has this city seen such wild revelry and so much noise and celebrating.

 Conditions of an Armistice with Germany
A neutral zone shall be reserved on the right bank of the Rhine, between the river and a line drawn parallel to the bridgeheads and to the river and 10 kilometers distant from them, between the Dutch frontier and the Swiss frontier.
The German Command shall be responsible for revealing within 48 hours after the signing of the Armistice, all mines or delay-action fuses disposed on territories evacuated by the German troops, and shall assist in their discovery and destruction.

To be fair, the show is still capable of hitting the mark when Norton is lucky enough to be blessed with both a topical concern that he can really get to grips with and a guest that understands the format of the show and has a couple of decent anecdotes to tell.
Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights is a consistent and acutely observed series decorated with occasional flashes of outright brilliance, and Kay's devotion to being involved in all aspects of production is both admirable and compelling.
While the Armistice shows were often weighed down by the demands of their format and moments of outright genius frequently became lost among lesser material, The Armando Iannucci Shows returned to the whimsical, laid-back approach of his earlier radio series In Excess, and centred around peculiar observations on life and society rather than current affairs.

I surely had some car ride Saturday night, there were two other fellows the driver his wife and myself, we surely did have some time, we went over some fine roads too, we rode twenty six miles round trip.

The boys were taken to Albany Friday night by Sheriff C. Kendall, who came out for them, and Saturday morning captain of detectives, B. Smith, of Portland, came to Lebanon and got the car and went to Albany and took the young thieves back to Portland.

It's Armando Ianucci's new show, though 'new' seems to be stretching it a bit when it does bear a quite striking similarity to his old series The Saturday Night Armistice.
Still, it was a good show - the prepared material was a lot funnier than the live chat bits, but that's to be expected while I presume they look round for comedians who can be funny and topical on cue.
It seems that Gash is being tried out for four nights this week with, I assume, the possibility of bringing it back as regular series if it does well.
