Topic: The Scourge (Warcraft)

  Scourge - WoWWiki
The Scourge is the Azerothian equivalent of the proverbial Army of Darkness.
Under the direct control of the Burning Legion, the Scourge's mission was to spread terror and destruction across the world in anticipation of the Legion's inevitable invasion.
While the status of the Scourge in the northern continent is currently unknown, the undead in Lordaeron -- under the command of Arthas' majordomo Kel'Thuzad -- continue to hold the Plaguelands from the enemies of his lord Arthas.

The Scourge (Warcraft) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Undead Scourge is a faction of the Undead in the fictional Warcraft Universe.
The Scourge later appears as a sort of "supervillain" in World of Warcraft in that players cannot join the faction as it is a common enemy to all.
The first war of the Scourge was won by attrition, with the assistance of the Dreadlords and his furious Undead minions, the Lich King was able to crush the Nerubians and invade their kingdom, bringing it to ruin.

The human alliance, which comprises elves, dwarves, and humans, returns from the previous Warcraft games, as does the orcish horde, consisting of the brutal green-skinned orcs, the trolls (their wicked cousins), and a minotaurlike breed called the tauren.
The entirely new playable factions include the undead scourge, a mix of evil human occultists and their nefarious zombie creations; and the night elf sentinels, a purple-skinned race of warrior druids.
Furthermore, Warcraft III's colorful maps tend to be populated by plenty of dangerous denizens, together with your main opponents.

We are expanding the Warcraft universe because we believe that a critical part of the MMORPG experience is the ability to journey through robust new lands.
In general, combat in World of Warcraft is faster paced than it is in other MMORPGs, without being a "clickfest." When a character attacks a creature, he or she enters into combat mode.
The world of Warcraft is envisioned to be a constantly evolving place, so the introduction of new monsters, items, places to visit and even different types of game play experiences are all in the long-term plans for the game.

The Night Elves barely managed to banish the Legion from the world, but their wondrous homeland was shattered and drowned by the sea.
They are nocturnal by nature and their shadowy powers often elicit the same distrust that they have for their mortal neighbors.

Some of these improvements severely alter the gameplay mechanics, such as the inclusion of two new races; night elves and undead scourge, the limiting of food to a maximum of 90, upkeep costs, and of course, the addition of hero units.
WarCraft III is not as graphically impressive as, say Morrowind or Final Fantasy X. All the units and characters are made up of polygons, as, I believe, are the landscapes, and they look smooth for the most part.
The races are all balanced for the most part (some issues with the undead scourge), interface is great, sound is impressive, and story is interesting.

 World of Warcraft Review
When highly anticipated games like StarCraft, Diablo II, and WarCraft III (along with all of the expansion modules) were in development, Blizzard always took the extra time to go over every detail, squash every bug, and take the time needed to make sure the game was done right.
The RTS world was set on its ear with Blizzard's offering of WarCraft III, and its follow-up expansion pack, The Frozen Throne, so the logical next move would be to convert the WarCraft world into an MMORPG to continue the story, with the world of Azeroth rendered in beautiful detail.
The former undead Scourge, now calling themselves the Forsaken, have cast their lot with Thrall, and are allied with the Horde, while the Alliance is bringing in the ancient Night Elves to help them rebuild their ravaged land.
