Shadow - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A shadow cast by the Earth on the Moon is a lunar eclipse.
The term shadow is also used with regard to other things than light, for example rain: a rain shadow is a dry area, which, with respect to the prevailing wind direction, is beyond a mountain range; it is dry because air masses lose part of their water when they move over these mountains.
Shadows, mainly in this genre, are said to be the departed souls of people that have had their lives tragically cut short or did not receive acceptance in heaven or hell.

This was almost the end of the band, although an album (Shades Of Rock) and a tour of Japan followed without Bruce, and with Alan Hawkshaw on keyboards which; in Hank's words, they did 'for the Yen'.

The Night Shadows are well known to serious record collectors as one of the pioneer "garage bands" of the 1960’s and the paragons of psychedelic music in the Deep South.
The band's popularity started to soar during this period because of a combination of being on area concerts, radio airplay, the notoriety of their risqué' 45 and a great live show featuring Little Erv and Helene.
The Night Shadows were also the first known "garage" band at this time to use portable stagelights, a cut-down organ that their keyboard player modified for easy mobility, and low impedance microphones for off-stage mixing into a board they dubbed "The Brain".

It had been Paramor's original intent to sign Richard as a solo act, backed by the Ken Jones Orchestra, but The Shadows impressed him sufficiently with their clean, professional sound, the tightness of their playing with Richard, and their serious attitude toward music to keep the group together as a performing and recording unit.
Rather, he was a careful arranger and professional musician, and a sympathetic listener who helped the group and Richard achieve a level of polish on their records--without costing them any excitement in their playing--that made them the envy of millions of British listeners.
While their millions of sales were later eclipsed by the success of the Beatles, Paramor still added significantly to the company's fate and furtunes, and English popular culture, with his discovery of the group.
