Religious skeptics often focus on the core tenets of religions, such as the existence of divine beings or reports of earthly miracles, while scientific skeptics tend to target cryptozoology, UFO encounters, and alternative science.

 Circular Reasoning
Please note that this upcoming edition of the Skeptics' Circle will be posted one day early (on Wednesday instead of Thursday), because of the Thanksgiving Day holiday in the U.S. I figured that most American fans of the Circle would have better things to do that day, such as watching football and feasting.

After the viewing, when the Skeptics Society host Dr. Michael Shermer suggested that perhaps one aspect of the documentary's commentary on aerial video would have been enhanced by additional viewing by video experts, he was abruptly interrupted by members of the audience still inflamed by the film's powerful emotional message.
When Abanes suggested that perhaps the Davidians were as responsible for the disaster as the government, he was roundly booed and one member of the audience leapt out of his seat and began to approach the podium before cooler heads prevailed.

I was able to figure out how he did everything in the show with one exception: toward the end, just as he was wrapping things up, he got an inspiration and had some guy in the audience stand up.
Finally, Smith concludes: "I was impressed not only with Van Praagh's accuracy and how articulate he is, but with the fact that he understands the skeptics, tries to answer their criticisms, and is good-natured about them." Hardly, on the latter.

The graph in Figure 1 depicts the growth in the number of scientific journals, from the founding of the Royal Society in 1662 when there were two, to the present.
The membership growth curves for the American Mathematical Society (founded in 1888) and the Mathematical Association of America (founded in 1915), are dramatic demonstrations of this phenomenon.
Those involved with the skeptical movement for any length of time, however, might find Thomas’ descriptive word “decline” difficult to believe in view of the acceptance of paranormal beliefs revealed in the above poll.

Skeptics are included for short segments that believers then seemingly tear apart, along with acting clips supporting the stories as they appear in the Bible.
Jammal's story, as told on the Sun show, was that he and a companion had gone to Mt. Ararat to search for the Ark. According to the story, they found it and took a number of pictures, but Jammal's companion was killed and all of the photos were lost.
According to Skeptics Society Director Michael Shermer and Dr. Larue, Jammal was not saying anything because he was afraid of getting sued by Sun and/or CBS.
