The General Society of the Mayflower Descendants is a lineage organization devoted to the perpetuation and preservation of the memory of the Pilgrims of the Mayflower.
The Society of the Mayflower Descendants in the State of Ohio was chartered as a state chapter in 1898.

he Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of New York holds the unique distinction of being the first Society of Mayflower Descendents to be established.
With the outbreak of World War I, the Mayflower Society donated an ambulance to the National League of Woman’s Services to be used in New York for transporting wounded American soldiers arriving by ship to local hospitals.
In the post-World War II era, the Society saw an increase in young members; a dinner dance was held at the Hotel Pierre in January of 1947 - the proceeds being donated to the Endowment Fund of the Mayflower House in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Nearly 400 years after a peace treaty was signed by their ancestors, direct descendents of Pilgrim Governor William Bradford and Chief Massasoit, met in Concord to celebrate the rich place both families have in American history, as well as the special relationship native Americans had with the first white settlers in New England.
Mayflower Society Governor Carlton Bradford notes the treaty between Massasoit and his ancestor, William Bradford, signed in 1621, lasted 50 years and is testimony to the respect the two peoples maintained during the birth of the European settlement.

As of this writing, members of the Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of New Hampshire are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the organization’s founding.
The New Hampshire Society is small compared to other states, but at the time of its founding, it was identified as the largest society to organize to that time, according to the General Society office.
Society activities were mostly given to historical programs, providing Pilgrim oriented and other patriotic materials to schools, and making donations for the preservation of various state and national historical documents and resources, including monies to support the Winslow House, headquarters of the General Society at Plymouth, Massachusetts.
