  The Song Remains the Same
November 2007, Led Zeppelin's The Song Remains the Same is being remastered.
When the album The Song Remains the Same came out there was a limit to around 45 minutes per LP side that forced them to eliminate several songs, which wouldn't be a problem in today's 80 minutes per side CD's.
The tour for The Song Remains the Same captures the band performing material throughout their career and includes several songs from their 1973 Houses of the Holy album, which are not on any of the other releases.

Indeed, the Song Remains the Same is a collection of some of LedZep's finest songs played to perfection by a selection of the greatest rock musicians to walk the earth, such as jimmy Page (guitar) and John Bonham (Drums).
Having said that however, The Song remains the Same is a genuine must for all Led Zeppelin and true music fans alike, as the genius of the performers is clear for all to see and is a breathtaking delight to watch and to listen to.

The Levee - The Song Remains the Same
A real ground-breaker for Led Zeppelin, "The Song Remains The Same" was the opening number of Houses of the Holy, and reflects Robert Plant's discovery that no matter where the band went, their music had a similar effect.
A total departure from the style of music the band had recorded to that point, "The Song Remains The Same" was played on every tour from the Japanese 1972 campaign until the 1979 Knebworth Festival, including many stunning performances as the 1977 show-opener.

I simply got introduced to 'The Song Remains The Same' through a good friend of mine, a Zep-fan like myself, who happened to dig both the film and the soundtrack to death - everything in a time when Zeppelin weren't exactly the hottest news around.

So I am left to assume that the fantasy sequences in The Song Remains the Same (one for each member of Led Zeppelin and their manager, interspersed between the concert footage) are nothing more than a few minutes of eye candy.
As I write this I am listening to the DVD, and it is very similar to listening to a live CD (I don't have the CD of Song Remains the Same, or I would compare the two).
At first I thought I mistakenly had my receiver set to send the same sound to each speaker, but it was correctly outputting the "surround" signal from the DVD.

It is true that the definition of songbirds (oscines) versus non-songbird was based on an anatomical definition concerning the complexity of the syrinx and there is no question that oscines have far more complexity to their vocal apparatus, but it turns out that a song should not be judged by syrinx alone.
Yesterday I was asked by a flute playing friend to suggest some bird songs that she might try to play on her flute for a concert she's doing.

As you can see, the 'multiplier effect' is stalling out presently, where a failure at this time would not be a good omen for the global economy into next year, so we will be watching progress across the board in all aggregate measures as the summer approaches to gauge probability factors moving forward.

This is overlong, fortified, dreary muck forked out of the old Yardbirds'; stable, accompanied by the same old borrowed mindset reflected in feeble, misogynist lyrics about women being unobtainable goddesses or vassals of Satan, low harlots to be bedded before they abandon their lover to turn the next trick.
So "The Song Remains The Same" was as close to an actual Led Zeppelin concert as people were going to get, for the time being.

Whether or not you think they had anything at all to do with the creation of "heavy metal", as it were, Led Zeppelin is without a doubt one of the most important, prolific, and influential bands to have ever taken to the stage.
At times, the transitions from onstage performances, rehearsed fantasy scenes, and real-life behind-the-scenes shots can be a little jolting, but if you think of this as a stream-of-conciousness piece, the whole thing is still pretty incredible to this day.
If you enjoy the material purely for what it is, and resist the temptation to make any of it fit an existing mold or preconceived notion of what "ought to be", you'll enjoy it that much more.
