Topic: The Spazzys

FBi Radio 94.5FM - FBIRADIO - THE SPAZZYS
While The Spazzys were certainly entertaining, I was somewhat disappointed by the behaviour of the crowd and the band's reaction to it.
But, I guess The Spazzys are too young to remember that violence and aggressive macho behaviour was one of the things that ruined punk rock for the female fans.
The Spazzys are certainly on the way up, but they have a way to go in terms of engaging with their audience.

Unfortunately this will ultimately be The Spazzys’ death, as the fans that they are trying to appeal to would sooner turn a trick on 53rd and 3rd than see a sub-standard rip off of one of the greatest rock bands of all time.
Fingers crossed The Spazzys can produce something to call their own, because if not, they have just earned themselves a ‘good try’ award and, like many others before them, one hell of a debt to their record label.
Spazzys are an independent band on a friends independent label.

 Marky Ramone in Sydney 2004
He was preceded by a set from Melbourne all-girl three-piece, The Spazzys, and later joined them for a run-through of a dozen Ramones tunes.
Come the closing set with the Spazzys, the looks of delight were etched on the band's faces as Marky took his spot behind his own kit and pounded out a dozen or so classics ("Sedated", "Blitzkrieg Bop") told the tale.
Spazzys drummer Alice vacated her traps to take lead vocals, dressed as Riff Randell.

The Spazzys at The Marquee, Sydney, September 2004
It was then time to move on to The Marquee for The Spazzys and Mach Pelican, a pair of Melbourne punk rock trios who clearly worship New York legends The Ramones far and away more than most.
The Spazzys closed their set with a take on The Ramones’; “Carbona not Glue” and returned to open its encore with another massive homage to The Ramones in “Paco Doesn’t Love Me” which really had the audience all ‘Spazzed’ out.
No compliments to some of the Marquee audience, who seemed to have emanated from nearest tip and probably learned their (what might be loosely termed) “manners” in the nearest barnyard, alongside all kinds of desperate farm animals.

PACO DOESN'T LOVE ME (SPAZZYS): music: Sanity.com.au - More Movies - More Music
It's easy to see why The Spazzys have become Melbourne's favourite rockers and have become the band of choice to tour with Blondie, The Buzzcocks, The Distillers, Gerling, The Datsuns; The D4; The Meanies, The Hard Ons and countless other acts.
Kat, Lucy and Ally Spazzy have worn their influences proudly on their collective sleeve since picking up their instruments a few years ago and have followed that with their not-to-miss debut video, that sees the girls rocking out as only they can, surrounded by the creature comforts in their Spazzy-world bedroom.
With their 'our way or the highway' attitude, an unmistakable sense of melody and energy to burn, these three 21 year olds quite deservedly own the title of the “coolest band this side of CBGB's" and Paco Doesn't Love Me is the first lingering taste of that.

Melbourne-based punk trio The Spazzys have worked up quite a name for themselves in the past year thanks to constant touring and the release of three singles "Paco Doesn't Love Me", "Hey Hey Baby" and "My Boyfriend's Back".
With most their songs being undeniably catchy, two-minute, Ramone-esque chargers, it is not hard to see how The Spazzys have a garnered themselves a reputation for having fun and exciting live shows.
Having never learnt how to play an instrument, Lucy, Kat and Ally made a chaotic visit to Undercover to chat with Eve Jenkin about how it is they managed to form a band and relate the details of the punk-rock lives they've lived since then.

I went and saw Machine Gun Fellatio at Academy, supported by The Spazzys and Butterfingers, last night at Academy.
I quite enjoyed their music, lots of strong chords and beats, very little showing off (not that I mind, John Butler of John Butler Trio did some very impressive guitar showing off at a show a few months back) and basically some good classic rock.
This was good, but puts your eyes right in the path of the lightbeam thingy as it does laps over the top of the crowd.
