		That’s right, Spongebob Sqaurepants, the face of Nickelodeon’s increasingly disturbing (and adult skewed) cartoon empire, headlined what I feel was one of the year’s guiltiest pleasures in his motion picture debut, The Spongebob Squarepants Movie.
		Spongebob picks up where Ren and Stimpy left off, with the same Bugs Bunny-on-acid animation, gross out humor, and characters that would normally be the stuff of preadolescent nightmares were they not voiced so endearingly.
		This movie is the perfect film to watch with the kids (if you have ‘em), but something tells me it will probably be even more popular in hazy dorm rooms and as background noise for parties.

		Like those two shows, Spongebob Squarepants appeals to young children, but packs enough wink-wink/nudge-nudge innuendo to make it a favorite amongst older viewers with pop culture antennae tuned into the multiple frequencies of cool, hip, and quirky.
		Unfortunately, for all its intrinsic hipness, the soundtrack also succumbs to the smack down of diluted popularism, ushering listeners into the whole affair with the faux agro, mock punk fallout of Avril Lavigne screaming and careening her way through the "Spongebob Squarepants Theme." It's more or less just add water music (i.e.
		"Spongebob & Patrick Confront The Psychic Wall of Energy" sounds like a FLips solo endeavor, the inclusion of references to the movie/television series able to stand on their own apart from the franchise and just like Wayne Coyne is waxing quixotic on his own.
