The media adopted “Tall Ships’ Race” the title although not all the entries were large square-riggers or schooners, about half the fleet were and these captured the cameras and headlines.
All these ships have on board at least half the crew aged from 15-25, a major requirement for entry in the races.
Tall Ships Race is a true success story and one, which anyone who has seen the ships or joined a vessel will never forget.

She was launched on January 23rd, 1980 and made her international debut, barely a few weeks after completion, in the 1980 Tall Ships Race Kiel - Karlskrona - Frederikshavn - Amsterdam and the windjammer gathering in Bremerhaven, Germany, that followed.
