Tamuli did not begin to move about on her own until 8 months of age, though this normally occurs by 4 months of age in other infants.
Tamuli also seems to have become aware of her condition and more than any of the others has come to carefully monitor the type of foods she consumes, the times that she consumes food as well as the amount of food that she is willing to eat.
While Tamuli is aware that she must be careful regarding food, she does not seem to realize that the other bonobos treat her with special accord because she is slightly frail.
