		The story looks back from the end of the story, like The Son of the Gun storyline, but this time the future seems a little more bright as the Albino is leading a migration of technopriests to the promised land and not spending his time on a cross.

		Technopriests is the first title to come out of the new publishing initiative between French comics publisher Les Humanoides Associes and DC Comics.
		If the Technopriests is any indication (and I gather from other sources that a lot of these books are going to fall into the same vein), you're not going to get much more than your normal sci-fi/space opera fare here.
		It's all retold in mostly ham-fisted dialogue by Albino, who's (get this) an albino who aspires to be supreme technopriest, kind of the ultimate video game designer in a world where virtual reality and reality tend to blend together.

		This first volume covers his lowly birth as one of three odd children (Albino is completely white, his brother Almagro is fl skinned, and his sister Onyx is bright red and has four arms).
		We are in the world of The Incal - these Technopriests are the same as the "techno technicians" from that series.

		I've been meaning to check out the TechnoPriests, but at four slim hardcovers (each one at 12.95 or 14.95, I can't remember right now) they always seemed a bit on the expensive side.
		If you are new to Humanoids I recommend getting "Technopriests" in July and "Deicide" in August (I realize that I've left out the biggest Humanoids hit: "Metabarons").

		With the TechnoPriets, Jodorowsky has finally made an attempt to put something recent actually up there with the Watchmen's and Dark Knights of the past.

		I'm not 100% convinced that The Incal #1 works as a perfect introduction to The Incal saga, but I think by the time the second issue comes out, people will start having a much better feel for the story.
		The story itself is interesting; it reminds me a bit of Jodorowsky's TechnoPriests story, with a young man having to haul himself up out of the gutter by his own willpower.
		Unlike the Albino of TechnoPriests, though, John has no real advantage, no special abilities.
