Jedi Council Forums - Miniseries Discussion & News
The Triangle is only the latest of SCI FI's several miniseries projects, including the recent Emmy Award-winning Frank Herbert's Dune, the 10-night alien adventure Steven Spielberg Presents Taken and the critically acclaimed Children of Dune.
Miniseries seem to be the best way to adapt a novel or story, but also a very good way to tell any story in general.
There are many instances which, I think, a film should have been made in a miniseries format to begin with (LOTR comes to mind, as well as the first X-men film) I sincerely hope that the format does not fade away before being used to its greatest potential.

The Thing: Night Falls On Yancy Street #2
While Mark Millar's Trouble is the book that's grabbing all the attention for dredging up the romance comic, I have to say that this miniseries fits right into the romance comic genre, as we have all the various staples, from the love triangle, to Ben's encounter with the jealous ex-boyfriend.
Now sure we also have the various trappings of the super hero comic, as our lead character has to take time out from his romantic pursuits to battle a rampaging Dragon Man, and the ex-boyfriend just happens to be a member of the Frightful Four who move in to attack on the final page.

GreenCine product main - Wives and Daughters (1999)
Debuting November 28, 1999, over BBC1, the four-part British miniseries Wives and Daughters was the second of two TV adaptations of Elizabeth Gaskell's unfinished novel (the first aired in 1972).
In America, Wives and Daughters was seen as part of PBS' Masterpiece Theatre anthology beginning April 2, 2001.
Inasmuch as author Gaskell passed away before concocting a solution to this romantic triangle, it was up to screenwriter Andrew Davies to come up with a happy (or at least satisfying) denouement.

New York Daily News - Entertainment - Size matters for 'Dr. Zhivago'
The new "Zhivago" was directed by Giacomo Campiotti and written by Andrew Davies, whose other literary adaptations include the "Pride and Prejudice" and "Daniel Deronda" miniseries.
Perhaps the biggest change is the exploration of the love triangle involving the 17-year-old Lara (before she meets Zhivago), the rich businessman Komarovsky and Lara's mother.
One criticism of Lean's film was that the supposedly passionate Zhivago (Omar Sharif), who is torn between Tonia (Geraldine Chaplin), his loyal wife, and Lara (Julie Christie), the inspiration for his writing, recedes into the cinematic tumult.
