 | | His creative talent and eccentric genius has welcomed many new things, helped forge the Wailers' reggae sound, inspired the Clash, and provoked new musical genres through his dub explorations. |
 | | In 1968 he founded his own label, Upsetter Records, and soon fused together one of the first reggae hits, "People Funny Boy," drawing inspiration from a local church's Pocomania rhythms, and pushing the bass to the forefront of the new sound. |
 | | In 1970 Perry teamed up with Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer, and Peter Tosh to create some of the greatest reggae tracks, including "Soul Rebel," "Duppy Conqueror," and "Small Axe." Perry's encouragement changed the Wailer sound, moving them from doo-wop harmonies to strong leading vocals. |
