This pub is usually packed at weekends with Valley boys and the Barons crowd (i.e over 40's) but it is worth a visit during the week as due to the cheap ale and no music policy it tends ot attract some of the local nutters and war hereos plus....it is now the infamous Magoo's local!
An Irish pub in the middle of the Kingsway, which attracts people on lunch hours from the numerous surrounding banks and building societies, so expect the clientelle to be a bunch of bankers of the highest order.
Name aside, unfortunately the pub bears no similarity to Llareggub in decor nor does it pay host to any familiar characters but it is ok for a lunctime drink whilst shopping and for a bite to eat and has a big screen to watch the ball game on.

As the sponsor of this petition, I must advise you that the Walkabout chain have issued an apology on their website which also states a change of policy regarding entry for those wearing uniforms.
Whilst Walkabout were very wrong not to admit the two Royal Marines at least they've had the decency to publicly apologise and hopefully there'll be no further issues in the future.
I have just received an email from a Director of the pub chain who indicated to me that it was the petition which caused their u-turn.

The chief executive of Fuller, Smith and Turner said yesterday he was eyeing further pub deals after a 31 per cent rise in profits on the back of its acquisition of George Gales and Co.

What's it all about?: A lively Aussie-themed pub, part of a chain.
Quite a lively night out, a bit of a meat-market, but not in an intrusive way like at least one new pub I could mention (that is emphatically absent from this guide).
If you're single there's a decent chance of pulling and the clientele are often quite attractive, although nobody really knows why as it's not really a trendy show-off-your-face-and-designer-labels type of establishment.
