Weird NJ 's Mark Moran Interviewed at Kyonsi Online NY
Weird NJ 's Mark Moran Interviewed at Kyonsi Online NY In the transitional phase of Kyonsi Online over a year ago I interviewed Mark Moran from Weird New Jersey Magazine, Weird NJ has been a favorite read of mine for over 5 years.
The best thing about Weird NJ is you can live anywhere in the world and still be amused by the articles of oddities in their magazine.
Some of the most flattering responses we get are from people who started out going to Weird NJ spots simply for their own thrills and kicks who are now genuinely interested in the history and folklore of the Garden State.

 NEWS of the WEIRD
And now, News of the Weird is online daily (except Sundays), with the best of the day's breaking news, as well as links back to the original raw, alarming, delightful, instructive, ridiculous stories.
For some readers, News of the Weird is merely a light diversion from the heavier news of the week.
For others, though, it's much more: a weekly chronicle of the continuing decline of civilization, or a therapeutic personal benchmark for reassuring yourself that it's all those other people (not you) who are the problem.

WEIRD TALES is a bit of a misnomer for a collection of songs about the triumphs and tragedies of everyday life.
WEIRD TALES furthers the earnest, "White Album"-of-roots-rock feel of Golden Smog's earlier DOWN BY THE OLD MAINSTREAM.
Not surprisingly, the strongest tracks are by Gary Louris (Jayhawks) and Jeff Tweedy (Wilco), both consistently inventive songwriters who continue to expand the sound of both Golden Smog and their respective bands.

Nowhere is this more clearly exhibited than on the album’s highlight track, "Holy Train Wrecks," a song which could be mistaken for one of Marcel Duchamp’s bare-boned percussive works being interpreted by His Name is Alive (or any number of Warren Defever’s Time Stereo side projects, for that matter).
Though each member of the group is elemental, it’s Hennies’ perversion of the drum kit that lends the album its most unique moments.
Their songs slowly lumber from idea to idea until the group collectively decides on a place of reposal.

Already, Weird Al is casting his net for future targets, eyeing 50 Cent for signs of longevity and Snoop Dogg for his cultural cachet.

In 1979, the success of the Knack\'s monster hit "My Sharona" inspired Yankovic to record a parody dubbed "My Bologna"; not only was the song a smash with Demento fans, but it even found favor with the Knack themselves, who convinced their label, Capitol, to issue the satire as a single.
Additionally, MTV firmly established Yankovic\'s public persona; sporting garish Hawaiian shirts, frizzy hair, and an arsenal of goofy mannerisms, he cut a distinctly bizarre figure which he consistently exploited to maximum comic effect.
After Michael Jackson\'s "Beat It" became the most acclaimed video in the medium\'s brief history, Yankovic recorded "Eat It" for his sophomore effort, 1984\'s "Weird" Al Yankovic in 3-D; the "Eat It" video, which mocked the "Beat It" clip scene-for-scene, became an MTV smash, and the Grammy-winning single reached the Top 15.

 Urban Dictionary: weird
Weird could mean someone is original and cool.
First off noone can really say something is weird because one's own personal definition of weird could be totally different from someone elses.
Someone who is called "weird" by their peers in one place might be called a conformist somewhere else so really the terms "weird" and "normal" are nothing more then words to describe someone or something different from themselves.
