  Donald Duck
Donald first appeared in the Silly Symphonies cartoon "The Wise Little Hen" on June 9, 1934 (though he is mentioned in a 1931 Disney storybook).
Donald's act is to recite the poems "Mary Had a Little Lamb[?]" and "Little Boy Blue[?]", but every time he tries, the mischievous orphans taunt him or harass him, leading the duck to fly into a squawking fit of anger.
The Donald of "The Wise Little Hen" made his printed debut in the newspaper comic strip adaptation of that cartoon.

Among the most popular Disney storybooks of the 1930s were Whitman's series of "Big Little Books," which generally retold stories from the comic strips, illustrated with art from the strips themselves.

Like the Big Little Books, it was illustrated with the original comic art, but this book was produced on a more elaborate scale, with full-color illustrations.
