"The Autumn Castle [is] an entertaining adult fairy tale with just enough darkness and magic, greed and love to be interesting.
Christine's life is rocked by the return of her missing childhood friend May. Abducted as a child into a place of magic and myth, May now presides over a land where a witch lives in a well, a shape-shifting wolf is her trusted counselor, and fate turns on the fall of an autumn leaf.
AUTUMN CASTLE is urban fantasy that is dark without crossing the line into pretention; which boasts a cast of faeries and artists without crossing the line into flaky; which centres around emotionally damaged characters and pays that damage more than lip service."

 Fairy Tales
Irish fairy tales have been collected by many people over the years; this collection is of particular interest because it was assembled by arguably the greatest poet of his time, and because it was a major product of and contributor to the Irish Renaissance of the 1890s.
Regarded as the first original fairy tale written in English, this tells the story of three brothers affected by the gold fever of the two eldest; it is closely modeled on the Grimms' tales.
Discusses several familiar and unfamiliar fairy tales that the author concludes may be used as medicine for the soul, to help women regain their "wild" (instinctive, unsocialized) natures.

The story is about 9-year-old Tiffany Aching, who is everything a typical fairy tale heroine is not: she's resourceful, competent, smart, practical, level-headed, and she's going to become a witch when she grows up.
Tiffany was opening her eyes, much like Granny Aching had, and really seeing; she would become in time what Granny Aching was in a lot of ways, and I guess he felt the parallel between Granny Aching and the Baron was necessary, to explain away much of the fairytale aspect in a nonmagical world.
Tiffany Aching is a typical nine-year-old farm girl who has "a way with cheese", an always-sticky younger brother named Wentworth, and a desire to become a witch.
