The Woodland Trust, founded in Devon in 1972, and now based in Grantham, Lincolnshire, is a conservation charity in the United Kingdom concerned with the protection and sympathetic management of native woodland heritage.
Nearly 350 of the sites contain ancient woodland of which 70 per cent is semi-natural ancient woodland – land which has never been cleared or replanted by man. They also manage over 110 Sites of Special Scientific Interest.
The Woodland Trust uses its experience and authority in conservation to influence others who are in a position to improve the future of native woodland.

Minard Castle Woodlands lies between the western shore of Loch Fyne and the A83 trunk road, south-west of the village of Minard.
This brought a positive response: the woodland was taken off the disposals list, with a suggestion that we discuss with the local Forest District Manager the possibility of establishing a partnership agreement with FE to manage the woodlands jointly.
Although the woodland is owned by FC, the drive to Minard Castle, which passes through the woodland, provides the sole access to the castle and two other private properties, all of which provide tourist accommodation.

The Trust takes the responsibility for designing and planting the wood, and also for the after-care of the trees.

In 2002, the Native Woodland Trust found a woodland of over 100 acres in County Kerry which was unknown to the responsible state authority (Dúchas).
The Native Woodland Trust is Ireland's only conservation charity dedicated to the preservation and expansion of Ireland's existing Ancient Woodland.

Coed Craig Ruperra appears in the first records of Ancient Woodlands in Wales in 1600.
It retained this status until the 1920s when conifers were planted during the drive to grow more wood after the First World War.

As part of the Millenium Celebrations in the Bytham area a group of local people put foward the idea of creating a woodland play space on a piece of land in Little Bytham.
The Bythams Woodland Trust manages The Spinney Playspace that was created with the help of a grant from the Millenium Commission.
The group is currently (April 2003) meeting at the Spinney, on the Creeton Road out of Little Bytham, each weekend for a few hours moving the project forward for an Official Opening in June or July 2003.
