Yogi Bear Show, The @ Toonarific Cartoons
Yogi soon emerged as a star in his own right, quickly spinning off to his own syndicated series, which began in 1961 and continued, in different incarnations, into the 90’s.
Yogi, being what he called “smarter than the average bear,” eschewed normal bear-type hunting techniques, such as swatting at fish, in favor of hunting for pre-made food that was found in a "pic-a-nic” basket.
The show also featured segments of Snagglepuss, a pink lion who was a frustrated actor (signature line: "Exit...stage left..."), and Yakky Doodle, a small, excitable duck, who was only slightly easier to understand than his more famous relative in the sailor suit.

Yogi Bear - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Yogi Bear is well-known for a variety of different catchphrases, including his pet name for picnic baskets ("pic-a-nic baskets") and his favorite self-promotion ("I'm smarter than the average bear!"), although he often overestimates his own cleverness.
Yogi and Boo Boo appeared on Adult Swim's Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law in 2002 in the episode "Death By Chocolate", where Boo Boo was accused of being a Unabomber-like character.
Yogi and Boo-Boo were briefly considered (and licensed) to become the animatronic entertainment at ShowBiz Pizza restaurants (the result of souring relations between ShowBiz and the company who owned ShowBiz's existing animatronic show, The Rock-afire Explosion).

Yogi Bear debuted on the Huckleberry Hound TV show in 1958, as the title character in one of its three animated segments.
Yogi's voice, provided by Daws Butler (Cap'n Crunch, Chilly Willie), was based on that used by Art Carney for his character Ed Norton, one of the stars of the old sitcom The Honeymooners.
Yogi's co-stars in the new show were Yakky Doodle (a cloyingly cute duckling based on an occasional Tom & Jerry supporting character named Little Quacker) and Snagglepuss.

Yogi Bear began as a secondary character on The Huckleberry Hound Show (1958), but he proved so popular, he was given his own series in 1961.
A conniver and a schemer, Yogi frequently proclaimed he was "smarter than the average bear." His gentle pal Boo Boo always pointed out that Ranger Smith wasn't going to like his latest plot to steal "picanic" baskets from visitors to Jellystone Park, but that never stopped Yogi.
The Yogi Bear Show may not have been great animation, but it was an essential part of growing up in '60s America, and this set is sure to delight baby boomers who watched it as kids.

Yogi's success also led to a 1961 comic strip that was syndicated in more than 100 newspapers nationwide, and in 1964 he became the first of the Hanna-Barbera characters to appear in a full-length theatrical production entitled "Hey There, It's Yogi Bear!"
It was Yogi's first in a series of Saturday morning spin-offs based on the "ABC Saturday Superstar Movie," Yogi's Ark Lark, presented on Saturday morning the previous season.
In the fall of 1988, new six-minute episodes of "Yogi Bear" were shown in syndication, as were various cartoon episodes of the old shows.

Yogi Bear is always in the ranger's hair.
Yogi Bear has an insatiable appetite for the sorts of goodies that can be found in every checkerboard-blanked pic-a-nic basket, the sort he routinely purloins from unwary park visitors.
Whether Yogi was heralding the tasty goodness of toasted oats in Kellogg's OKs or Snagglepuss was promising Cocoa Krispies had the flavor of a chocolate milkshake, only crunchy, kids were, yet again, unapologetically tapped for their consumer potential.

Yogi Bear Show, The - Smarter than the average DVD!
This series was the break-out hit that started Hanna and Barbera's television shows on the track to the legends that they are today.
Yogi and Boo-Boo Bear would battle Ranger Smith up and down the length of Jellystone Park, while the smarter-than-the-average-bear would try to nab every picnic basket he could lay his hands on from unsuspecting park visitors.
Yogi Bear's own series (15 hours worth of cartoons!) began in 1960, but Yogi's career started two years prior to that as the "sandwich" episodes of The Huckleberry Hound Show.

Every episode is the same similar storyline, basically Yogi and Boo Boo always try to steal picnic baskets from visitors at the local national park picnic area.

There were not a ton of episodes, compared to the other HB shows, but it's simplistic characters and plots made it one of the most fun in all of Hanna Barbera land.
I say most of the Yogi 'toons because the rest are being released in the Huckleberry Hound DVD box sets; the show that gave Jellystone Park's chief resident his start to fame and pic-a-nic baskets.
