The opening credits of Another World - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
For Another World, it was a series of interlocking rings, ostensibly to symbolize strong bonds between each member of the community and the town in which they live.
The interlocking rings were first seen in the original opening sequence, in which a number of interlocking rings expand to where the viewer can see the title of the show, embroidered onto a book cover, with another subtle embroidery of two interlocking rings to the left of the title.
The opening titles were changed completely on October 26, 1987, when clips from the show and promotional campaigns were used to complement the title sequence.

Another World (TV series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Another World (AW) (sometimes called Another World: Bay City to distinguish it from its spinoffs in the 1970s and 1980s) was a Daytime Emmy-winning American soap opera which ran on the NBC television network (CTV in Canada) from May 4, 1964 to June 25, 1999.
It is Lemay's tenure, which lasted the whole of the 1970s, that soap opera publications such as Soap Opera Digest call Another World's "golden age." As the show rose higher in the ratings, NBC brass wished to expand the show to an hour; the first regularly scheduled hour-long episode was telecast on January 6, 1975.
Many reasons abounded for Another World's cancellation, one of the more notable events occurring in the summer of 1998; the San Francisco NBC affiliate, one of the highest-rated in the nation, dropped the show off its schedule altogether, knocking it out of two million homes.

When the original circle passed the boundaries of the screen, the pattern of rings disappeared, and the title screen was evident: A fine mesh background, the words "Another World," and a set of interlocking circles to the left centered in the middle of two vertical stripes, all of this in sepia tones.
The third opening, the Block Letters, debuted on October 5, 1981 and began with this circle widening to reveal the profile of a man and woman.
Clips which were superimposed with "Another World" are indicated by "AW," along with the yeardates of their tenure.

My least favorite openings occur when they superimpose the credits over the beginning of the actual movie in a way that distracts or blocks the real action.
Of course, I would also prefer that the "credits" be reserved for people who really do deserve credit, rather than including the star's dog-walker, and the caterer's accountant.

The parlor churches in the Negro district, congregations of the smaller sects meeting on the ground floors of brownstone houses, took the "news" in stride as less faithful parishioners rushed in with it, seeking spiritual consolation.
This step was taken by the FCC chairman in connection with last Sunday night's broadcast, "The War of the Worlds." The word "flash" was used in the broadcast to dramatize the H. Wells' imaginative story of an attack on this planet by "monsters from Mars." Many protests were received by the commission against the broadcast.
Without question, listeners were frightened by the War of the Worlds broadcast; Mattoon residents were convinced their dizziness and nausea were caused by the phantom's gas; workers were hospitalized for days with rashes, rapid heart beat, and nausea during the June bug epidemic; and farmers were convinced their cattle had died in a mysterious manner.
