	The Guiding Light
		Closing credits in the 1967/68 season were accompanied by a shot of a lighthouse beacon.
		The end credits were set in Helvetica Bold with the credit in gold and the name of the cast member/production staffer in white.
		While the basic look of the opening montage and closing end credit visuals remained the same, there were changes such as slower transitions from one clip to another in the opening cast montage and a thinner form of Helvetica type for the end credits.

		Guiding Light Alternate Credits II Today, GL introduced the second version of it's new opening credit sequences, this time featuring the extended Lewis clan.
		However, I am struck by just how...well....unoriginal the opening credits are; in short, GL's new opening looks very similar to both the current openings of all of the ABC soaps currently on the air (GH specifically) and last incarnation of Another World's opening, which was ushered in by Jill Farren Phelps.
		Despite its technical achievement, Guiding Light's new credit sequence does fit in a bit more stylistically with the CBS daytime lineup and it's a welcome change from that cheesy atrocity which preceded it.

	The opening credits of Guiding Light - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		The earliest episodes on television featured a drawing of a lighthouse as an announcer said, "The new Duz brings you The Guiding Light." By early 1953, the show was using an opening and closing image of sunlight bursting through the clouds.
		The longest-running opening logo of these early years was the title of the show superimposed over a spotlight beam, used from around 1956 until 1967.
		The cast montage of this opening had a unique Knots Landing-style setup in that clips of the characters were contained inside rounded patterns that progressed from right to left across the screen, followed by the words of the title.

		The new opening, which debuted on Monday, November 14th, strays slightly from the recent trend of featuring photos of actors accompanied by their names or their character names.
		Guiding Light's executive producer, Ellen Wheeler, directed the series of vignettes, urging her actors to think of them as "in character acting exercises" showing off different moods and aspects of their characters.

		Y&R's opening has always bugged me as the actors were sort of propelled to the front of the screen on some conveyor belt.
		Most of the people in the AMC opening look relatively fine although I've been obsessed with the seeming absurdity of Alex/Anna fixing her hair in her opening shot.
		But since the soaps don't ever get to show their closing credits on the network anymore, they don't make them special and instead focus all of their energy to making sure you know who the actors are at the beginning of the show.

	New Opening - the buzz
		The end of the opening "melts" or fades into into the first scene, which is very cool.
		I like how they have the credits to everyone that is behind the scenes of the show, makes the show look professional, but that opening...phew it needs help.
		It was very strange not seeing the opening teaser before the titles after all these years, but I do like how the final scene of the titles becomes the first scene of the show.
