The Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) is a state-legislated program that requires students to be assessed in reading, writing, and math skills prior to enrolling in a Texas public institution.
Students who fail one or more sections of the THEA test are required by Texas Law to remain continuously enrolled in developmental studies in addition to their other coursework until all sections of the test are passed.
Students who have not passed all sections of the THEA Exam may not enroll in upper level courses.
