The Royal National Theatre of Great Britain is a building and theatre company on London's South Bank, located immediately east of the southern end of Waterloo Bridge.
The honorific "Royal" was added to the name in c.2000 but many people feel it is redundant, and choose to ignore it.
The largest space, the Olivier Theatre, is the main auditorium and was modelled on the ancient Greek theatre at Epidaurus; it has an open stage and a fan-shaped audience seating area for about 1150 people.

The Royal Alexandra Theatre is a theatre in Toronto, Ontario Canada.
The theatre, commonly known as the "Royal Alex", "the Alex" or "the R.A.T." is named for Queen Alexandra, a Danish princess and the wife of King Edward VII, great-grandmother to Queen Elizabeth II.
The theatre was built on what had previously been the athletic field of the exclusive boys' school Upper Canada College near the corner of King and Simcoe streets.

The 'Royal Alex,' as it is known affectionately, was designed by John Lyle who, using New York's New Amsterdam Theater as a model, incorporated novel features such as air conditioning which required tons of ice and.9 m-thick concrete floors which made it Canada's first fireproof theatre.
The theatre opened 26 Aug 1907 with the musical revue Top of the World by Mark Swann and soon was established as one of the leading playhouses in North America.
It established a new record for the theatre with a run of 63 weeks (15 Mar 1989-26 May 1990), followed by a national tour and then a return to the Royal Alex in 1991.

The latest information that we have is that The Theatre Royal has now closed and all attempts to restore her have been abandoned.
Unfortunately the Theatre Royal Chatham Trust have, so far, been unable to secure the stage area from the local council, although they are hopeful that a resolution will soon be found.
The Theatre Royal Chatham Trust Ltd was established in 1992 and they managed to purchase the Theatre in 1995.

The Theatre Royal stands in the High Street at Chatham - one of the Medway Towns situated in north Kent some thirty miles south east of London.
The Royal Navy was based at Chatham Dockyard for over four hundred years, and their former base is now open to the public, whilst the Napoleonic fort that protected it is an award-winning museum.
The theatre served the Medway Towns for over fifty years, and played host to many of the greatest performers and shows, but by the 1950s it no longer attracted large enough audiences to keep it open.

The building of the theatre had scarcely begun when the capital raised was up, and the subscribers had to build at a much grater cost than had been originally been intended.
The front of the theatre was in classical style with a pillared portico, as engraved on the medallions presented to the subscribers.
