The Middle East Theatre of World War II is defined largely by reference to the British Middle East Command, which controlled Allied forces in both Southwest Asia and eastern North Africa.
It remained a major active theatre for two and a half years until the British Commonwealth Eighth Army crossed the border from Libya into Tunisia.
In February 1943, command of the Eighth Army passed from the Middle East Command to the Allied Joint command for the Mediterranean, AFHQ.

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands (8,293 sq km on 139 islands), are a group of islands situated in the Bay of Bengal at about 780 miles from Kolkata, 740 miles from Chennai and 120 miles from Cape Nargis in Burma.

The initiative for and the actual establishment of the Macedonian Centre of the International Theatre Institute(ITI), at the 17th International Theatre Festival MOT(October, 1992), and its admittance into regular ITI membership, at the 25th World Congress of ITI in May, 1993, in Munich, Germany, resulted in a legitimate membership of the world theatre family.
World Theatre Day, 27 March 1994, - translated into Macedonian, the international Message (written by Vaclav Havel) was read in theatres all over the country as well as on the radio and television.
Theatre festivals such as the MOT International Theatre Festival ("Young Open Theatre") and "Ohrid summer" have certainly played an important part in the "new wave", opening contemporary Macedonian theatre to the outside world.
