Ramanuja List Archive: [ramanuja] Re: Desikan - Thenkalai etc.
Also once again I am sorry to say that you have only exhibited your state that you are not exposed to the writings of the Thenkalais at all.
Also how many records do you want to prove that Sri Desikar sannidhi in his avathara sthalam, Thoopul, was indeed Thenkalai and he was adorning only the thenkalai thiruman in Thoopul, and conveniently converted to present day Vadagalai thiruman.
A standing testimony to this is that almost all the divyadEsams, which practically adorn a thirumaN,are thenkalai barring a few, recently converted ones, 10 or 11 vadakalai.

  Iyengar Yoga
This tradition is known within the community as Ubhaya or twofold Vedanta, referring to use of both the Sanskrit Vedas and Tamil Divya Prabandham of the Alvar saints in religious life.
Today, Iyengars are divided into two sects, known as Thenkalai, or "Southern culture", and Vadakalai, or "Northern culture", with subtly different philosophical and ritual interpretations of Ubhaya Vedanta.
Some believe that the terms Southern and Northern refer to differing regional developments, the Southern or Thenkalai predominating in the south of the Tamil country and the Northern or Vadakalai predominating in the north.
