Theodor Johan Christian Ambders Brorsen (July 29, 1819 May 31, 1895) was a Danish astronomer.
He observed at Altona, Germany and later at Žamberk (at the time called Senftenberg) in the present-day Czech Republic at the observatory in a castle (today a museum) belonging to Baron John Parish (an Englishman, also known as Freiherr von Senftenberg).
The asteroid 3979 Brorsen is named after him.

Theodor Brorsen (Holstein, Germany) discovered this telescopic comet on 1846 February 26, near Eta Piscium.
Pape noted a strong similarity to the expected comet Brorsen and this was confirmed during April.
As it turned out, the comet was then about 10 days from passing perihelion and would pass 0.73 AU from Earth during early May. These circumstances allowed the comet to change little in brightness for about two months following recovery.
