 PlanetMath: set theory
Set theory is special among mathematical theories, in two ways: It plays a central role in putting mathematics on a reliable axiomatic foundation, and it provides the basic language and apparatus in which most of mathematics is expressed.
Although set theory provides some of the language and apparatus used in mathematics generally, that language and apparatus have expanded over time, and now include what are called “categories” and “functors”.
This is version 8 of set theory, born on 2003-01-01, modified 2003-02-07.

Piaget's methods led to many new facts, and his theory was an effort to organize and explain these "facts." Piaget never considered his theories to be anything but tentative explanations, and he continued to work and modify his theories even in his eighties.
Numerous writers (Groen, 1978;Ginsburg and Opper, 1988;Gredler, 1997; Papert, 1999) argue that Piaget's theory is not a theory of education.

With my Cygnar scheme, I choose to have the primary color flow as much as possible on any given miniature and use my secondary color of blue, on all shoulder plate armor as a common tie in.
With my Cygnar scheme, I intentionally chose a color that was the absolute opposite on the temperature range and went with a very cool color.

Color Wheel Pro: Classic Color Schemes
It is not as vibrant as the complementary scheme.
The tetradic (double complementary) scheme is the richest of all the schemes because it uses four colors arranged into two complementary color pairs.
This scheme is hard to harmonize; if all four colors are used in equal amounts, the scheme may look unbalanced, so you should choose a color to be dominant or subdue the colors.

That schemes are more complicated than varieties is readily apparent even in this beginning chapter, where they are thought of as corresponding to the spectrum of a commutative ring with identity.
The flexes are defined in terms of the Hessian of the variety, the latter being generalized by the authors to define a scheme of flexes.
Most of the information about these schemes are contained in the exercises, and some of these need to be worked out for a thorough understanding.

Evaluating protein structure-prediction schemes using energy landscape theory
According to landscape theory [5, 6], structurally distinct traps emerge through inappropriate contacts arising from the inconsistency or “frustration” of different energy interaction terms.
A simple example is to maximize the stability gap between molten globule structures and an ensemble of structures constrained to lie within, say, 4 Å RMSD of the native state (rather than the native state itself), with the objective of increasing the funneled character of the landscape in the region where it is most needed.
Such schemes could potentially be enhanced if combined with the histogram analysis, which allows calculation of energy and free energy as a function of the parameters in the energy function without additional molecular dynamics simulations.

This new-in-paperback edition provides a general introduction to algebraic and arithmetic geometry, starting with the theory of schemes, followed by applications to arithmetic surfaces and to the theory of reduction of algebraic curves.
The first 7 chapters combine to give a wonderful exposition of the language of schemes; the other chapters are of a specialised nature and concentrate on arithmetic curves.
Once this is done, the stage is set to introduce schemes in the next chapter and prove their basic properties.

The aim of this course is to introduce students to some basic notions and ideas in algebraic geometry, paving the way for a study of Grothendiecks's theory of schemes (second semester).
Though the theory of schemes and cohomology is generally accepted as the "right" setting for algebraic geometry, these subjects require a substantial amount of technical language which to the uninitiated can sometimes obscure the beauty and elegance of the subject.
Thus the goal of the course is more to give students a feeling for algebraic geometry, rather than to develop the foundations of the subject, which students should learn in subsequent courses on schemes.

We use this result to construct a homotopy invariant functor from the category of simplicial presheaves on the etale site of schemes over S to the category of pro-spaces.

Number Theory studies the integers: numbers like 0, 1, -3, 34,...
A fundamental concept is that of divisibility: the integer a divides the integer b if we can find an integer c such that b=ac.
This simple concept gives rise to a beautiful theory, encryptions schemes which are used on any computer today, and many famous open problems in mathematics, among other things.
