Thesprotia is a region steeped in history and the culture that has evolved here through the centuries has a unique flavor of its own.
The Prefecture of Thesprotia due to its strategic geographical position at the tip of the European Union, its common borders with Albania and its vicinity to the Balkan countries, is the ideal choice for tourism and new business investments.
Even from the prehistoric years Thesprotia, live and exuberant, having followed through the centuries its archaic, Byzantine and today the modern Greek path, is scattered with overwhelming historic treasures such as ancient fortresses, sacred sanctuaries, numerous Byzantine churches and monasteries, still to be excavated and studied.

He subsequently supports this (43) by means of Pausanias' statement (1.17.5) that in his opinion, Homer may have drawn on the geography of Thesprotia to invent his description of Hades.
Having made this equation between Thesprotia and the landscape of Odyssey 11, O. then becomes entangled in a series of difficulties: for example, the Odyssey mentions three rivers near the entrance to Hades: Cocytus, Acheron and Pyriphlegethon, and yet in the real geography of historical Thesprotia, only Cocytus and Acheron can be located.
