		The third parliamentary elections in Yemen took place on 27 April 2003; according to observers, they were conducted in a fair and free manner.
		With EU exports to Yemen decreasing by 15,9 percent from 2002 to 2003 and with imports from Yemen increasing by 20,1%, the EU trade surplus has dropped by 18,7% from € 743 to 604 mio.
		The EU was Yemen’s most important import partner in 2003, accounting for 19,0% of Yemen’s imports, followed by the United Arab Emirates (12,8%), Saudi Arabia (10,2%) and China (8,9%).
