My girlfriend is feeling quite unwell with a tummy bug, so much so that she went to the hospital today.
The song has a great melody, and pop hooks a-plenty (from the piano riff at the start to the way the melody in the chorus is repeated in a minor key, to the various guitar licks, to the "change of heart" bit with all the harmonies).
As such, the song feels uneasy and bitter; Davies doesn't necessarily like that his songs keep people's troubles away, because he writes character portraits, and is exploring the darker side of the human condition; the praise starts to sound to him as expressing his failure.
