 Aftermath: Page One
For the soldiers who came back from the trenches, there was the thanks of a grateful country, a suit of civilian clothes, a pair of medals, and a small cash payment.
The aftermath years were a time of paradox, where the men who returned from the horrors of the trenches wanted to forget, and where those who had stayed behind, and had lost husbands and brothers, and sons and fathers were equally determined never to forget.
It was a time where remembrance of the dead became a way of life, and where it was somehow assumed that all the best, and the finest young men of a generation had died.

Hoffman's character is constantly criticizing the other members of the cast as being unprofessional and as is seen in the final scene where he takes over for the person who truly has the lead, he realizes that he has failed miserably.
Reuben’s father in the film, who apparently is an extremely soft-spoken man, opens up in a diatribe about how Hoffman's character needs to realize that he had something great in life at one time and that it is truly time to move on to bigger and better things rather than stay in the past.

 How Tyranny Came to America
But in fact, the Court was now countermanding the state legislatures, where the principle of checks and balances had no meaning, since those state legislatures had no reciprocal control on the Court.
First came the income tax, its constitutionality established by the Sixteenth Amendment; this meant that every U.S. citizen was now, for the first time, directly accountable to the federal government.
Then the Seventeenth Amendment required that senators be elected by popular vote rather than chosen by state legislators; this meant that the states no longer had their own representation in Congress, so that they now lost their remaining control over the federal government.

We aren't trying to create a depth in commitment nor trying to make something the players are trying to "beat." Instead it's more of an engine where players try out a monster and a city, experimenting with options and tactics and see how the situation unfolds.
